Paul Manafort Acknowledges 'Conflict' Within the Trump Campaign Over Paul Ryan Endorsement

Donald Trump's campaign chairman Paul Manafort acknowledged that "there's a conflict within the Trump campaign" over the Republican presidential nominee's hesitation to endorse House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin for reelection. But Manafort insisted that the two are "very good friends."

"Of course he's trying to bridge the party with Paul Ryan," Manafort told George Stephanopoulos on "Good Morning America." "But Paul Ryan is running against someone who's not going to win but is a strong supporter of Mr. Trump."

In an interview with The Washington Post on Tuesday, Trump refused to endorse for reelection Republicans who have criticized him, such as Ryan and Sen. John McCain of Arizona. He also praised Ryan’s GOP opponent, Paul Nehlen, for running “a very good campaign.”

“I’m just not quite there yet,” Trump said of backing Ryan.

Nehlen isn’t the smoothest speaker. I noticed that the first time I heard him.

Hubby said the same thing, the other day. I said...He’s not a rehearsed, career politician. He’s a businessman, probably not used to doing much public speaking.

I’m not worried about his speaking talents....I want him to oust RYNO RYAN, and help Trump.

Like another poster said, upthread....I’d vote for a ham sammich, over Lyin Ryan.

But like all other Trumpers on the thread, you can't vote for the ham sammich because you are not from the district or even from Wisconsin.

I understand your frustrations with Ryan and even agree to some extent with some of them. But Ryan's opponent is a cutout. He may even be a Democrat. You cannot expect Wisconsin voters to dump Ryan - and all of the influence his position creates positively for our State - because Ryan is a Biderberger or Stonecutter or hates puppies or whatever you Trumpers say he is.

Go ahead. Send Nehlen another check. In fact, I think all of the Trumpers on FR should max out and each send Nehlen $10,000.

It won't change the results of next week's primary, but it will keep the poor, destitute DC lobbyists running Nehlen's campaign from missing any 3-martini lunches for the next few months. After all, they are people, too. Those Lexus car payments just won't happen by themselves.
