Survival in America may soon depend upon the willingness of the typical “infidel” to bust a cap.

Bloody savages are affected by nothing less.

OBERSTAR PREDICTS `TRANSFORMATIONAL CAMPAIGN’ FOR LOUREY - POLITICS:AS EXPECTED, THE LONGTIME CONGRESSMAN ENDORSES BECKY LOUREY IN THE GUBERNATORIAL RACE.
Duluth News Tribune (MN) (Published as Duluth News-Tribune (MN)) - February 24, 2006

Author/Byline: Scott Thistle

``Becky will renew state government and reaffirm Minnesota values in the governor's office and state Legislature.’’U.S. REP. JIM OBERSTAR, D-Minn.

In what may be one of her better political moments in recent months, state Sen. Becky Lourey, DFL-Kerrick, landed a high-powered endorsement Thursday in her bid to be Minnesota's next governor.

``Becky speaks from the heart and the soul and the spirit,’’ U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar, D-Minn., told the News Tribune just minutes after formally tabbing Lourey as his pick for governor in 2006. ``She lives in her private life what she preaches in her public life. She doesn't say one thing and do another.

``Her campaign will lift the spirits of the Democratic Party and infuse energy into the transformational campaign ahead. Becky will renew state government and reaffirm Minnesota values in the governor's office and state Legislature.’’

As Minnesota's longest-serving member of Congress, Oberstar regularly wins re-elections in landslide fashion. Considered a more conservative Democrat who opposes abortion while being supportive of organized labor, Oberstar draws support from a broad base of Northland voters.

Oberstar’s support for Lourey, considered one of the more liberal Democratic-Farmer-Labor candidates running, could significantly broaden her political base, said Craig Grau, a political science professor at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

``It does make you blink,’’ Grau said. ``With his backing, people will have to say, `Hey, wait a minute,’ and reconsider. It shows her support to be broader than what people have stereotyped her support as.’’

Oberstar also hinted that the often-impassioned Lourey offers her party something the other candidates don't. ``She's a really refreshing person on the scene,’’ Oberstar said. ``We need that burst of energy and enthusiasm that she brings.’’

Oberstar didn't support Lourey when she ran for governor in 2002. She lost the party's nomination to longtime state Senate Majority Leader Roger Moe, who later fell to Republican Tim Pawlenty.

Times are different now and Lourey is a different candidate than she was then, Oberstar said. ``She has grown, matured and become a far more effective and confident public servant.’’

Oberstar’s glowing words may also help Lourey with the region's DFL-voting labor unions and draw delegates to her camp at the party convention in March.

Her competitors for the DFL spot on the November ballot include state Sen. Steve Kelley of Hopkins, state Attorney General Mike Hatch, Twin Cities-based real estate developer Kelly Doran, and Ole Savior, an artist from Minneapolis.

The last successful DFL candidate for governor backed by Oberstar was the DFL’s last governor, Iron Ranger Rudy Perpich.

Lourey and Oberstar have frequently collaborated on state and federal issues during the last 15 years that Lourey has served in the Legislature, Oberstar said.

``Based on our past experiences, I know we will make a great team at the state and federal levels on behalf of every Minnesotan,’’ Lourey said in accepting the endorsement.

A Gold Star Mother, Lourey is opposed to the war in Iraq and has protested outside of President Bush's Crawford, Texas, ranch. Lourey’s son, Matthew Lourey, an Army helicopter pilot, was killed in action north of Baghdad last May. Oberstar, also an opponent of the war, attended Matthew Lourey’s internment service at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., and joined Lourey that day for a news conference, she said Thursday.

We really are already in an Orwellian society in so many different ways. If we are told by our media masters that something happened, then it did. 2+2=5.

the father of the fallen soldier who questioned what sacrifices Trump had made for his country and accused him of not reading the Constitution.

Well, obviously it is Khan that hasn't read the Constitution ? I will lend him my copy because obviously the one he is reading from ( was it printed by the DNC ? ) is not the same one I have. As a lawyer, he seems to be very ignorant of it. Constitutional protections are not extraterritorial , that is, they do not apply to non US citizens in a foreign country wanting to come to the United States. Therefore equal protection of the law doesn't apply to them, nor does any Constitutional protection.

The democrats really set up Trump. I wonder how long this took and how many meetings and emails took place. I was listening to KABC radio today and the guest and one of the shows hosts went on and on about Trump is crazy and is wrong to criticize Khan BUT they kept leaving out facts in the case such as he has worked for the Clintons for years and is a member of the muslim brotherhood terrorist group.

Jillian Barberie was the host and she is as dumb as can be. She mainlt talks gossip on the show. She wants to vote for Hillary just because she is a woman.

‘NOT A CHANCE...the speaker said Trump has a “black soul” and inferred that he had never read the American Constitution which he himself declares is subordinate to sharia law....this was a setup from the beginning and Trump should have been a little more careful.
