How Hillary blew her big moment
nypost.com ^ | July 29, 2016 | John Podhoretz

Well, Hillary Clinton took the stage after four days of Democratic triumph — the party staged what was even to these conservative eyes and ears the best, tightest, most interesting convention of our time — and pretty much stunk up the joint.

Most interesting, perhaps. Best? Tightest?

Was he watching the same convention that the rest of us were?

Terrible speech.

Not a single memorable line in it people can remember.

What struck me is Hillary didn’t once mention white men in her address, even though she’s deep underwater with them.

She pandered to people already predisposed to vote for her and didn’t win over people she needs to win in November.

Hillary blew it - she looked like a scold, a bitter and angry woman and there was no charisma and no warmth to her words.

Her speech could have been a lot more but it was partisan and full of liberal bromides rather than a vision of where to take the country in the future.

Quite simply put, it was one of the worst convention addresses we’ve ever heard and nothing about it made Hillary more likeable or electable.

There is nothing to reveal to the nation of what kind of President she would be and moreover, Hillary is a parody of a bad presidential candidate.

Tonight had loser written all over her.

I learned something. I didn’t know her father designed drapery material. THAT explains her wardrobe choices.

If I’m not mistaken I think she proposed ANOTHER stimulus for job creation. How’s that going to go over adding another trillion or more to the deficit?

Polonious in Hamlet makes the observation, “the clothes make the man.”

Hillary’s problem goes beyond style - the speech was all fizz and no substance.

We face serious problems and she didn’t address them head on.

And she never dealt with the trust problem she has with the American people.

I’d have given a very different speech. She didn’t.

Eight years of Hillary, her 90-year-old “husband”, Chelsea, and Huma (and Weiner), or eight years of Donald, Melania, and Ivanka?

Easy choice.

Send Hillary home to her beloved grandchildren.

Quite simply, she'll be above the law...

Just anecdotal evidence, quick take from people I know, nobody liked her speech. Some people I know are more moderate or liberal than I am, but even they didn’t like it.

I’m sure the media loved it, and the Today Show and all of them tomorrow will be having their mediagasm about it.

I picture her and Tim doing a Hillary and Tim car dive over the cliffs.

Trump brings out the crowds. She won’t when she hits the trail.

Her husband didn’t like it.

And people pay attention to subliminal visual cues.

The optics were simply terrible, no matter what you think of her speech.

I’m sure it was a letdown to her loyal followers, to see Hillary mount the podium, and fail to deliver.

I know it’s a cliche, but it was the speech of her life.

Lots of people don’t follow all this regularly as people here on Free Republic do. Millions may have been tuning in for the first time to this election season to see Hillary. Hillary didn’t convince too many people with this speech.

And as lame as it was, many who are just tuning in may have just decided to tune out Hillary for the rest of the campaign. She may not get other chances to win them back.

Libs all pointing to this line in Clinton’s speech, saying it is wonderful, just wonderful.

Clinton: “America is great because America is good.”

Alexis deTocqueville: “America is great because America is good..:

Hmmm.
