President Barack Obama gave a forceful speech at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday that left many conservative voices opposed to Donald Trump imagining what could have been.
The initial reaction from many "Never Trump" Twitter users ranged from despondent at their own nominee to anger at the Democratic president's opportunity.

The take-home message of this story is to show, yet again, that the GOP establishment has a much stronger affinity for the Democratic establishment than for the grassroots and base of its own party. You'd think they'd at least make a token show of appreciation for the people they've conned for money and votes all these years, but that's evidently asking too much. As far as the GOP elite (and their lackeys like Erickson and Carpenter) are concerned, Clinton and Obama are at worst the loyal opposition. Trump and his supporters are the enemy.
FUDC.
There’s something about reading a theory proffered on CNN that sort of says “I think my brain is a cesspool”.
I can’t do it.
The GOP are use to being wimps. They like their candidate to look nice and appealing but really have no bite.
No more.
CNN is hardly worse than Fox these days as far as being a mouthpiece for the political establishment. Regardless, it's not a theory - the GOP elites are secretly and sometimes not so secretly working to sabotage Trump and get Hillary elected.
The good news is that this election is getting these people to show their true colors, which will motivate even more voters to get out and support Trump against Hillary and against the wishes of the GOP establishment.
“forceful speech”
Did he not take his fibre?
Obama’s upset the election is not All About Him
John Podhoretz - Take about five paragraphs out of that Obama speech and it could have been a Reagan speech. Trust me. I know.
Why don't Podhoretz, Kristol, etc. just drop the charade and admit that their political agenda is just a spiced up version of Hillary's?
Amanda Carpenter - I am sure hearing a lot more about God and faith at the DNC than the RNC.
Nice try, Elmira Gantry. What does your God and your faith say about your little trysts with a married former Presidential candidate, sweetheart?
These hypocritical frauds all belong at the DNC convention.
Obama’s speech was that of a self centered dictator, nothing in that speech was true and it was all about him, even when he was there for Hillary, he made the speech all about him.
Obama has problems, but the media is tripping over itself on how great this garbage speech was.
In related news, Manson follower, Leslie Van Houten, denied parole...
Hillary must be disappointed. She wanted both John Hinckley and Van Houten as keynotes at the convention along with the rest of their freakshow, she'll have to just settle for just Hinckley.
They are the GOP eunuchs, the castrati.
True in more ways than one. Eunuchs were always the flunkies at the Emperor's Court.
They're desperate because they haven't realized they're not really Republicans. They need to either slash their wrists, or join the RAT party...or both.
Agree completely.
Some of the NeverTrumpers are not lightweights, but those who celebrated Obama’s “address” definitely are.
The take-home message of this story is to show, yet again, that the GOP establishment has a much stronger affinity for the Democratic establishment than for the grassroots and base of its own party.
Obama's speech bordered on delusional. America is experiencing the worst race riots and race relations since the late 1960's, and he's singing kumbaya.
The media spin on this is to call it optimism. I suppose that in a sense a man who talks about how lovely his aluminum siding is while setting his own house on fire is technically an optimist, though most of us have better words for it.
Also known as: "The I's have it."
And the me's and the myself's...
Klintoon is a commie bitch ...
“that left many conservative voices opposed to Donald Trump imagining what could have been.”
Jeb Bush, right?
