Democrats Fear ‘Secret Trump Vote’ That Doesn’t Show Up in Polling

Throughout the GOP primaries, online and automated surveys—which are generally less respected within the industry—indicated higher levels of Trump support than live ones. The discrepancy may have been a large reason why his Republican elite opponents refused to take the former reality star’s campaign seriously before it was too late.

A similar dynamic appears to be taking shape in the general election. Instead of taking false comfort, Democratic elites are sounding the alarm about the Shy Trump Supporter Effect.

Liberal pollster Celinda Lake is warning of a “secret Trump vote” which she discerned from differences between automated and live surveys conducted for the general election match-up.

“The pattern is in the online surveys, even if you control for demographics, Trump does three to nine points better than in telephone surveys,” Lake said in an interview with the Washington Examiner. She also believes that there are many blue-collar white voters who typically don’t vote in elections who might be interested in supporting Trump’s unconventional Republican campaign.

Worry about this voting bloc may have played a role in Hillary Clinton’s decision to pick Virginia senator Tim Kaine as her running mate despite her difficulty fending off a surprisingly strong primary challenge from progressive Vermont senator Bernie Sanders. While he has some liberal stances, Kaine has consistently shown an ability to get at least some white conservatives to vote for him.

The Dems are so hateful and dark that Trump supporters don’t dare put stickers on their cars for fear of property damage incidents by Dems who don’t respect the constitution and property rights

And Black voters should flock to the polls to elect the whitest ticket in history WHY, exactly?

There are any number of reasons why people might wish to keep their support for Donald Trump somewhat "undercover" to protect themselves.

My employer is liberal. Very liberal. Being too outspoken could have career-impacting ramifications.
I'm too old and make a very comfortable living, so I do not wish to upset that apple cart.

Like others have shared, they do not wish to have rocks tossed through their windows, property spray-painted, or keys scratched down their vehicles. A friend of mine was assaulted while driving into a Trump property...there is no way his family will put a bumpersticker on their car! Why be the recipient of that kind of lawlessness?

The upside is that I think this low-key approach is going to reap a HUGE number of quiet, courteous, patriotic, yet very motivated Trump voters. They will be eager to brave driving rain, ice, and drifting snow just to cast their honest vote.

We have a landline that is in our office. It has the ringer off and never gets answered. We both have cells and like you never answer calls from numbers we don’t know. Everyone we know has cells and does the same thing. My daughters friends all have cells and no landlines.
I think the only people left with landlines are the really old ones. lol

Yeah, wise people who also maintained their twisted copper P.O.T.S. lines (plus fiber optic) because they wish to have telephone service during power failures.

People who have been around the block likely also know better than to get roped-in and hassled by a lame pro-Clinton telephone poll. :-)

I believe it…

People are not talking about this election yet

People will not say in a poll there voting for Trump it is racist to vote for him

But is the booth Trump gets the vote

The people who go to a Trump rally make an effort and have lots of friends

Hillary's rallies are just the local democrat establishment

Trump has been so demonized by my “friends” I just keep my mouth shut and smile. I absolutely refuse to talk to any pollster. So, yes, if I, who can take it pretty well, am “silent,” I suspect there are MANY silent Trump voters.
