Donald Trump comes out of his convention ahead of Hillary Clinton in the race for the White House, topping her 44% to 39% in a four-way matchup including Gary Johnson (9%) and Jill Stein (3%) and by three points in a two-way head-to-head, 48% to 45%. That latter finding represents a 6-point convention bounce for Trump, which are traditionally measured in two-way matchups.

It’s interesting that this piece mentions Cruz’s move and how it backfired to solidify support for Trump.

Imagine if Sanders does something similar today — suppose he gives a nice speech but does not actually endorse Clinton. It would have the opposite effect among Democrats. It would solidify the opposition.

This is turning out to be, in the words of another Freeper yesterday, the best election ever.

I won’t be part of that revolt (I’ll head to New Zealand or something) - but sadly I agree. Once the courts are solid in Hillary’s camp, we no longer will have a functioning Republic - she will be able to do as she wishes, and there will be no way for Congress or anyone else to stop her - and typically when a such a level of hopelessness is reached, bad things happen.

>o?These people, working class whites, were THE DEMOCRAT BASE...

And I'm thinking the democrats internal polling isn't looking so good and they've realized (hopefully to late) that they still need moderate working class whites to win. Which is why they quickly bumped the far lefties like Elizabeth Warren and minorities like Julian Castro off the VP list for a "Joe Biden lite" in Tim Kaine, what they don't realize is that even though Tim Kaine might be slightly more centrist on a couple social issues, he is as much of an open borders internationalist as Bernie Sanders.

“Imagine if Sanders does something similar today — suppose he gives a nice speech but does not actually endorse Clinton. It would have the opposite effect among Democrats. It would solidify the opposition.”

Exactly. The big difference is that Sanders supporters (correctly) assume that the game was rigged against them - whereas the Cruz supporters were instead trying to RIG THE GAME against Trump. Perhaps in Cruz’s strange mind he was some kind of Republican superhero, thinking that he’s saving (or tried to save) the country from the ravages of Trump, but to 95% of Republicans now - he just looks like a nutcase. We pity him, especially considering the incredible potential he squandered away.

“And I’m thinking the democrats internal polling isn’t looking so good and they’ve realized (hopefully to late) that they still need moderate working class whites to win.”

Actually, they were on to it from the start, which is why they fought Trump so hard. It wasn’t just Republican elites that didn’t want Trump, it was the entire Democrat field - they saw his power. They just couldn’t go public with that information, of course.

But more recently, about 2 weeks ago, there were some articles saying that Hillary needs to reach white, working class voters. Problem is, SHE WAITED TOO LONG. Kaine will be of no help - as far as these voters go, Hillary is all-in with Black Lives Matter and Amnesty. She’s already type-casted herself. The Dems all know that, but no one is ready to ‘have the talk’ with Hillary, so they may well just ride her straight into defeat - hoping they get more chances in the future, which has always been the case, since we manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory every time we achieve power. But somehow I see that differently with Trump.

It will be interesting to hear what he has to say tonight. Is he really fighting for the people? Or has Hillary already made him a deal that’s too good to pass up?

...”today’s young liberals are social Marxists because of their college “degrees.”...

You are exactly right. College has become a course of brainwashing for way too many students. Looks like the “real” people are in support of Trump. In my life, I have rubbed shoulders with elites and the most rural country people and I prefer the country folks because they have a wisdom the others do not. I suppose it is because of their exposure to hard times and, consequently, of knowing how all of that works in this short life of ours. Elites who have no real skills, other than the skills of manipulation, are not to be respected or trusted. I guess, in the end, I trust doctors, nurses and others in the medical community..Not Big Pharma, though, or big insurance companies. I will take common folks with common sense every time.

The numbers are encouraging, but there is no way Trump will win 70% or more of the overall white vote. That’s not really a knock on Trump, as no Republican could pull that off. I believe the record is Nixon in 1972 when he won 67%, and after that Reagan in 1984 with 64%.

Winning 70% of whites overall should be within reach for the GOP considering how the Democrats champion explicitly anti-white policies like racial preferences and disparate impact. But there are too many self-loathing, guilt-ridden white liberals, plus those whites you speak of who are conservative on social issues, immigration, and trade, but who have been put off by the donor-class ownership of the GOP. And then we also have the more ‘moderate’ suburban type of white, who we are told are put off by appeals to poor and working class whites. That doesn’t need to be the case, but the media will sure do its part to equate any Republican outreach to poor and working class whites based around immigration, crime, etc, is seen the darkest light possible.

Imagine if Sanders does something similar today...(ie: Cruz's "vote your conscience").

It will never happen. Have you listened to him? Even though he has many of the same issues as Trump, but with disasterous "solutions", he despises Trump. It's pathological, a fellow New Yorker who cannot stand that Mr. Trump has spent his whole life being productive, earning billionaire status, while Sanders spent his whole lazy life bein' cool and finding a way to get a government check. You really think he wants to permanently change his lazy and comfortable lifestyle to lead a movement? Won't happen.

Can Sanders supporters sue him for fraud?

Huh?

Sanders seems to me to be the politician after Trump who is against immigration and pro borders.

Some quotes:

“It would make everybody in America poorer—you’re doing away with the concept of a nation state…

““What right-wing people in this country would love is an open-border policy. Bring in all kinds of people, work for $2 or $3 an hour, that would be great for them. I don’t believe in that. I think we have to raise wages in this country, I think we have to do everything we can to create millions of jobs.

“You know what youth unemployment is in the United States of America today? … You think we should open the borders and bring in a lot of low-wage workers, or do you think maybe we should try to get jobs for those kids?””

https://berniesanders.com/open-borders-a-gimmick-not-a-solution/

I think the democrats made a strategic mistake not choosing Sanders. Looking at the white blue collar votes for Trump - with Sanders, I think the democrats would have gotten a larger share of them.

Who knows?

If Hillary finally gets indicted and drops out and Sanders take over, it might be a blessing in disguise for the dems.

Cheers.

Yes, but remember every public school teacher has a degree. I’ve seen a few Trump is anti education memes bubbling on social media. Swaths of lawyers don’t like him either. My guess is that the more government dependent the profession, the more likely they vote for HRC.

Would love to see a breakdown.

You’re right.

He also seems tired, and kind of over it, just as Trump said yesterday. How could anyone honestly have expected him to endure the stresses of leading the free world???

If the DNC convention doesn’t produce the desired bounce, I think we can expect a return of the ‘cough, cough, cough’, followed by a note from her doctor to drop out of the race. Boundless greed, yes. But she is smart enough to know when to step away or be swept away...

I agree that Trump won’t get 70%, but 65% is easily within his reach. Just the numbers from this poll put him at about 61%-62% of the white vote (when normalized to 100%).

At 65% of the overall white vote, he just needs to pluck off a relative handful of Hispanics and blacks to get over the top. Anything more, even Romney’s bad Hispanic/black numbers, means a landslide.

And don’t forget - most of that 65% of the vote is concentrated in very critical states (i.e., PA and Rust Belt). The states with the really high minority counts, CA, TX and NY won’t matter for Trump - they’re already decided (except, maybe, in a landslide win).

Media/DNC narrative:( Please make sure make sure to pass along to allied and partnered media the story for this week!)

Hillary rises in the polls after convention speech that is bright, full of hope, inclusive, and electrifying! Voters cite her experience and proven leadership abilities as well as her exciting acceptance speech of a positive progressive America as reasons why they will be part of history electing the first female President.

Trump tanks in polls after voters reject dark fearful narrative.Hillary Clinton takes a double digit lead in several polls as voters cite her message of bright future of America vs Trumps negative message of fear, hate, and stereotypes. Voters initially intrigued by Trump's message overwhelming reject it once details of his proposals are exposed as outside the mainstream.Voters overwhelmingly respond to Clinton's call to unite in her acceptance speech hailed by many as the most brilliant launch of a historic Presidential campaign since President Obama’s 8 years ago.

That is a big “if” she wins. The ways things are going, we are watching the DNC fall apart.
