So while Trump appeared flawless on the Cleveland stage Monday night, whether she intended it or not, her all-white ensemble displayed the kind of foreignness that is accepted by her husband’s political party. To many, that outfit could be another reminder that in the G.O.P. white is always right.
Four years ago, Republicans fretted about trying to diversify their base, in the wake of Barack Obama’s clear voter mandate. This time around, with Trump at the top of the ticket, it’s obvious that ship has sailed. On Monday night, Melania Trump was a not-so-subliminal billboard for what’s looking like the Trumpian view of an ideal America.
And if that’s the fashion statement she intended to make, it’s a very scary one.

A white dress is racist, a black dress would be cultural appropriation, a red dress would be trashy, a patterned dress would be garish, and anything that cost half as much as a Moochie dress would be dismissed as vain and insensitive. I can’t stand liberals.

This convention was THE most "diverse" one, that the GOP has EVER thrown! Good grief....look how many blacks were on that stage and audience, Hispanics, a Korean, a queer, and women.
Melania wears a LOT of white and light colors because they look good on her.

The dems are just mad because Melania has no need for a boob belt like Big Mo.
If Melania were a Democrat, the media would be worshipping her for her beauty, her poise, her sense of fashion, her ability to speak five languages, and her international roots. They would have dismissed plagiarism charges over two sentences in her speech as absurd, partisan nitpicking, as examples of Republican misogyny.
