There is NO way to spin this. This is a very, very bad shoot. It's on video.

For anyone who tries to lay blame on the victim, I'd like to know what in earth he could've done differently.

Unfortunately, with the way the police are now targets, we will probably see more of this as police are not to trust the community if the community sees them as the enemy.

Yes. The police made a stupid move there.

After the news story, there’s a youtuber commentary that begins at 3:37. Take that with a grain of salt.

I chose this video because it had some of the better news coverage.

He is going to get, and should get, a very nice settlement from the state for this. No excuse at all to fire the gun. They should fire that officer since he has no ability to handle pressure.

Does anyone see the irony in a behavior therapist being unable to diffuse the situation?

The 911 call that said a gun was involved is the problem. Whoever said that needs to go to jail.

If I were the city attorney....I’d go ahead and try to offer $200k and hope that the guy accepted that and an apology. But I think the guy could get a million easily (but with lawyers involved and taking half of that).

Too good to be true for the BLM types. I do not buy it.

This does not give the police license to shoot a cooperative subject with hands clearly in the air. This does not give them license to shoot in a clearly non-threatening situation.

This officer must be charged.

If I shot a man who was clearly not a threat, I would be charged.

Trigger-happy cop, for sure. He needs to lose his job. Thankfully the victim is still alive.

It’s on video. How can you deny it?

An inconvenient truth is still the truth.

They should fire that officer since he has no ability to handle pressure.

I think a lot of the "bad shoots" have been due to police officers who are not good under pressure. These are the same types who kill family dogs because "the dog approached them in a threatening manner". Maybe the requirements for becoming an officer have been relaxed so much due to PC pressure that they are letting in too many people that aren't cop material (our military will look like this before too long).

If it wasn't a "threatening" situation, then why were the cops on the scene in the first place?

I've said for years that the 911 system was a terrible development. It conditioned people to call for help even in situations that they were perfectly capable of handling themselves.

Whichever officer dropped the hammer on that man, should be in cuffs.
No excuse. The officer should never be permitted to hold a weapon again.
The gentleman that was shot reminds me of one of my neighbors, great man with great children, vet and straight up genuine American citizen.

Negligent discharge? Looks like the officer needs to explore the exciting opportunities in retail security at his local mall.
