“You arrogant ass!” yelled Donald Hoffman, the former president of the American Nuclear Society, who was standing on the floor for Cruz’s remarks.

Cruz continued on, his voice shaky, as the noise from delegates on the floor — and attendees in the second and third decks of the arena — all but drowned him out.

The scene, watched by millions of people around the world, was an unmitigated nightmare for Cruz, who in many ways was using Wednesday’s speech as the unofficial kickoff of his 2020 campaign. Cruz knew that he was taking a risk by not endorsing Trump — yet never could have predicted the scope of vitriol his decision would elicit.

When he had uttered his final words — “Thank you, and may God bless the United States of America” — Cruz was showered with thunderous, cascading boos. He stepped away from the podium yet remained on the stage for several moments, waving and smiling uncomfortably, trying not to appear paralyzed by the moment.

The fact that he was headed straight to Adelson’s suite makes me wonder if in his deranged mind did he think he could walk in and ask them to fund an independent run?

I know many states have a sore loser law that would keep him off the ballot. Would only take a few though for him to be a problem.

I am disappointed in Trump. Donald Trump was way out of line with his attacks on the most conservative fellow republican in the race, and he should have made a much bigger effort to mend fences. Trump/Pence would have been far better off with an open and enthusiastic endorsement from Cruz, and Trump (”Art of the Deal”) should have made whatever effort it took to get that endorsement.

Okay, just kidding. Mostly. Trump should have done better on this very big question, but Cruz is an absolute moron and a traitor. The last two presidential elections put America in such bad condition that we are in immediate danger of destruction, and this one will decide the survival of America as a free country. Cruz is letting his hurt feelings stand in the way of helping a flawed candidate who is incomparably better than Tyrant Hillary.

Cruz figured (correctly) that failing to endorse Trump would give him the support of the NeverTrump voters four years from now. Ted Cruz ignored the details that:

(1) If Trump loses, many and perhaps most Trump supporters, even reluctant ones, will blame Cruz for being a self-centered sleaze, and

(2) The supporters impressed by this are a similar group to the ones Jeb had this year.

I hoped for better from Trump and much better from Ted Cruz - out of patriotism combined with self-interest from both of them, if for no other reason. [Start with that first paragraph just to see how many people would stop reading? Me?]

I was watching C-Span and the cameras switched to Trump entering the arena while Cruz was winding up his speech. Was perfect timing with the crowd booing and VOILA!....here comes Trump! Best moment ever!
