Mi-28NM Prototype Delivered to Flight-Test Center In Moscow Region (attack helo)

MOSCOW --- The prototype of the newest Mi-28NM (M stands for upgraded, Modernizirovanny) combat helicopter has been delivered to the Lyubertsy-based flight-test center of the Moscow Helicopter Plant named after M. Mil (a subsidiary of Russian Helicopters holding), according to open sources.

Hence, the flight trials of the rotor-wing aircraft will likely take place in the Moscow Region. The Rostov Helicopter Plant (Rostvertol, a subsidiary of Russian Helicopters holding) produced the demonstrator in 2015.

Mi-28NM is known to be equipped with new above rotor-based N025 radar and advanced rotor blades to increase the helicopter’s maximum flight speed. The chin-mounted weapon station armed with 30mm Shipunov 2A42 automatic cannon has been enhanced.

The upgraded 'Night Hunter' has received an advanced suite of optical-electronic sensors mounted in the new nose turret that has replaced the Mi-28N’s missile guidance system dome and thermal imager. The prototype of the Mi-28NM combat helicopter is not equipped with the onboard Vitebsk electronic protection system. However, the system’s jamming station is supposed to be installed on the upgraded helicopter’s tail boom later.

Mi-28NM is reported to be equipped with dual-control system. The Radio-Electronic Technologies Concern (Russian acronym: KRET, a subsidiary of the Rostec state corporation) is developing a laser suppress station to protect Mi-28NM against guided missiles. The trials of the helmet-integrated sighting and control system intended for the upgraded 'Night Hunter' are to be completed by the year-end.

The development of the Mi-28NM rotor-wing aircraft commenced in 2009. The helicopter is intended for the elimination of hostile soft-skin and hard-skin vehicles, low-flying aerial targets and manpower at day and night.

I like the pitot tube and AOA sensor mounted on the barrel of the chin cannon.

So that’s a Havoc upgrade, not a Hind? I’ve seen some super upgraded Hinds from Denal? or some South African company at a couple of foreign weapon display conferences.

Yeah. Got it now. I pulled out my 1990 era flashcards from my OCS buddy who went ADA. I know tanks like the back of my hand....helos and aircraft? All I know is to duck or return fire.

Your woodpile can’t vaporize ISIS. MI-28 can and often does.

My woodpile, until recently was armed with a copperhead. I haven't seen him in a while, but saw a kingsnake on the property. I assume Copperhead has been digested. Kingsnakes down here absolutely murder copperheads and rattlesnakes.

The MIL-24 doesn’t so much fly as it is repelled by the ground.
