To me it freed up the Cruz voters. Trump was the bigger man letting him speak. Cruz chose to back Hillary by default.

There is no doubt tonight that Cruz is going to write in his own name in November. That is pretty much a fact now. Every journalist will now ask, will you vote for Trump or are you going to write in your own name on election day?
Cruz will say, voting is a private matter. And then the election worker will have to open up or read the electronic version of a written in by Ted Cruz himself.
