Exclusive: Trump could seek new law to purge government of Obama appointeesTrump Could Seek New Law

If he wins the presidency, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump would seek to purge the federal government of officials appointed by Democratic President Barack Obama and could ask Congress to pass legislation making it easier to fire public workers, Trump ally, Chris Christie, said on Tuesday.

Christie, who is governor of New Jersey and leads Trump's White House transition team, said the campaign was drawing up a list of federal government employees to fire if Trump defeats Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the Nov. 8 presidential election.

...

Trump's transition advisers fear that Obama may convert these appointees to civil servants, who have more job security than officials who have been politically appointed. This would allow officials to keep their jobs in a new, possibly Republican, administration, Christie said.

“It’s called burrowing," Christie said. "You take them from the political appointee side into the civil service side, in order to try to set up ... roadblocks for your successor, kind of like when all the Clinton people took all the Ws off the keyboard when George Bush was coming into the White House.”

Christie was referring to pranks committed during the presidential transition from Bill Clinton to George W. Bush in 2001. During that period, some White House staffers removed the W key on computer keyboards and left derogatory signs and stickers in offices, according to a report by the General Accounting Office, an investigative arm of Congress.

“Christie was referring to pranks committed during the presidential transition...”

Pranks hell! That was criminal vandalism that should have been prosecuted.

Any federal employee whose initial appointment was political from January 20, 2009 to January 20, 2017 should be fired. There should be no exceptions.

Other than a very small number of departments/agencies (military and perhaps FBI as examples), federal employers should be limited to one hire for every two people who leave that agency/department. The exceptions would be agencies that need to be abolished. BATFE, EPA, Commerce, and Education (and others) should be completely abolished with a 90 day wrap up period to transfer their very few useful tasks to other federal and state organizations that care - if any exist.

Some need to be prosecuted as well.

He doesn’t need a new law. He can just do it.

Correct. Reagan and Air Traffic Controllers spring to mind.

Dear DJT, fire the JBTs@ATF. Bar all present and past ATF employees from any federal job or any law enforcement.

Maybe starve the agencies via budgets. Will they work for free?

You can dig up posts on DU complaining about exactly this sort of “burrowing” practice when W was leaving office. It seems to be useful on both sides of the aisle so of course it’s a corruption that will likely be advanced rather than ended.

Probably need to entirely remove presidential authority to determine if a position is a political vs. civil servant position.

“Might want to look at the Dubya and Bill Clinton appointees too.”

Expecially people connected with these two! They are the ones who “draw near to us with their lips but their hearts are far from us!” Also make sure the Kock Bros. and their money don’t do any more damage.

The department heads aren’t the problem. They can go on day one because they are “political appointees!” The problem is all the “termites” that are covered under Civil Service. To get at them, he will first have to attack the judiciary, or it will be an uphill battle!

Christy could be a very busy man while Trump is in office.

Don’t stop with removing them from Federal Service.

Take out entire offices and a few Departments that exist only to burden Americans with useless regulations in an attempt to justify their existence.

And investigate all Oblather’s shady Green Energy friends bankruptancys and where all that bailout money went.

Lay waste to everything Zero and Xlintoons have ever done to us!

That was a major mistake with Bush W. He didn’t even try to remove people. That came back to bit him so many times it was crazy
