Obama says some local police departments need more resources

WASHINGTON (AP) — The loss of three more police officers in Baton Rouge over the weekend demonstrates the importance of the federal government doing everything it can to help police officers go home at night and be safe, President Barack Obama said Tuesday after meeting with key leaders of his domestic security team.

Obama said there is great interest among police departments nationwide in receiving additional training to deal with active-shooter events and to decrease tensions before violence occurs, but that more resources will be necessary. He said many police departments could also use more help purchasing bullet-proof vests. He did not discuss specific amounts that he would like to see Congress make available.

Obama met with Attorney General Loretta Lynch, FBI Director James Comey and Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson in the Oval Office. He addressed reporters for about five minutes after the meeting without taking questions. He said the federal government has many of the tools necessary to help local departments, but the effort to improve policing will also have to be driven within those departments.

"Unfortunately, not all the departments that want to train their officers have the resources to do it," Obama said.

Another opportunity for federal control, redistribution, and fanning the flames of resentment.

It’ll come with strings.

I’m sure we have plenty more bullet resistant vests than MRAP’s sitting around.

Feds, stay the hell away from local law enforcement. They don’t need your help or the money you’ve stolen from us. Mind your own damn business.

Lemme guess:

Phase I: The federal government starts subsidizing local police forces.

Phase II: The federal government begins defining the qualifications for police forces to receive the funding — especially with regard weapons use/training and “diversity” re-education.

Phase III: The federal government threatens the local jurisdictions with loss of federal funding for failing to implement or comply with the federal regularions.

Phase IV: We have a national police force.

Get them to take federal money.

Then they have the strings. Control local with the purse. That’s what they do with everything else.

The best thing Obama could do to help local police is to just keep his big yap shut.

demonstrates the importance of the federal government doing everything it can to help police officers go home at night and be safe, President Barack Obama said

Obama feeds the phony narrative of racist police and behind the scenes he does everything he can to stoke anger and violence among blacks.

Then he steps out in front and says, you cops want to see your families at the end of the day? Then you'd better play along with my agenda.

See Alinsky, Saul

I agree. Bait and switch, like all Obozo’s/the left’s “we’re the government and we’re here to help” hooks.

...the next option is to use money to give police departments “grants” to “fight crime,” I’m sure. But it’s about hooking local governments to the federal trough and then implementing the federal takeover of local law enforcement.

Been doing that for years with the drug war.

I read a couple days ago that Chicago cops were told to turn in all their shotguns.

I told my chief, in all seriousness, that one day a representative of the federal government will walk into his office and offer to finance his entire budget if he only allows his officers to be deputized in Titles 18 and 21.

This would in effect allow them to enforce federal law nationwide.

The catch would be that the Fed would be allowed to move his officers at the time and place of their choosing.

He thought I was off for saying so but when you are running a shoestring budget, trying to figure out how to meet the public safety needs and pay your folks a wage that will keep them, signing over becomes tempting.

I find the whole thing disgusting. Obamas supposed concern for the police. It’s cynicism beyond measure. This piece of crap is at the had of encouraging this war on police. This m’fer had BLM thugs at The White House last week!

> additional training ... to decrease tensions before violence occurs

THAT is the true agenda. Obama put it in writing.

http://www.cops.usdoj.gov/pdf/taskforce/TaskForce_FinalReport.pdf

In 2015 Obama’s “Task Force on 21st Century Policing” issued their Final Report. Among the numerous recommendations are federal training standards, numerous reports to be filed with federal government (police demographics, “community” demographics, arrestee demographics, incidents reports, etc etc etc), and “community” involvement and review of training, incidents, etc.

Deray McKesson, and Black Lives Matter, both participated (page 72)
