Dependents and Possibly Nukes Staying Put in Turkey: Pentagon

The U.S. Defense Department drew up orders for the evacuation of military dependents from the Incirlik Air Base in Turkey as the attempted military coup got underway Friday night but abandoned them as the insurrection quickly collapsed, Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said Monday.

While not confirming the presence of nuclear weapons at Incirlik, Cook also said steps had been taken to boost security for "special weapons" at the base shared with the Turkish Air Force to "keep everything safe, and we're going to continue to do that. As a matter of policy, we don't discuss strategic assets."

Arms control groups have long maintained that the U.S. stores nuclear weapons at Incirlik and other NATO bases in Europe. Last September, the Russian Foreign Ministry charged that the U.S. was upgrading B-61 nuclear bombs stored "not just in Germany, but also in Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, and Turkey."

At the time, Navy Capt. Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman, said at a briefing that the U.S. has long deployed nuclear weapons overseas but "we neither confirm nor deny their presence at any specific location."

At a Pentagon briefing, Cook said about 100 military dependents remain in Turkey following the evacuations last September of about 600 military families in the aftermath of the terror attacks on the Brussels airport and metro.

Cook also clarified the number of military personnel in Turkey, most of them at Incirlik with the 39th Air Base Wing. Previous estimates had put the number at 1,500 or 2,000, but he said there were currently more than 3,000 military personnel in Turkey.

How about a clear denial of transference
of nuclear weapons (like the drones, and the intel)
to al Qaeda and IRAN by Obama?

Notice how no American media covered the fact Turkey cut power to our base there?

Actually, the "coup" did not fail.

The coup, such as it was, was actually a hardline muslim takeover of the formerly secular Turkish military.

I’m inclined to think that the “coup” was orchestrated by Erdogan as a false flag coup, to justify doing a purge.

That is why it “collapsed” so easily and why they have so many names already that need to be purged. Those lists were draw up before the “coup”.

Christian American dependents and 30-50 nukes NOW LOCATED BEHIND ENEMY LINES.

Obama just gave Erogdan a valuable hostage situation.

If things get hot, it will be VERY interesting. NNSA/OST and AF security will kill anyone getting near the WSAs I hope....unless Obama/Kerry tells them to stand down.

Why is this necessary if Turkey is our ally?

And the independent judiciary and the teachers(??).
Turkey is an islamist, shariah state now.
Heads will roll and probably already have.
Only a fool like Mr. Obama would keep our nukes and dependents in Turkey an hour more.

I would not want to be at Incirlik now. This is a ruse. They would have been safer had the coup succeeded.

A full bore, well armed, industrial muslim state is being reborn very fast.

Why now? Oasshole is not only going to let it happen he is going to help it along and arm it with hydrogen bombs. The US government and DOD are behaving stuipidly on purpose. They follow orders and the orders are to do nothing just like Benghazi.

Another Benghazi in the making? Well armed Islamic forces attack the base, only to be turned away by loyal police, who then insist on directly guarding the nukes? Byzantine tactics.

“As a matter of policy, we don’t discuss strategic assets.”
“we neither confirm nor deny their presence at any specific location.”

They might want to mention this policy to the f*cking traitor they have as secretary of state.

Bringing nukes home means accounting for them. No news is good news the way the Obama psycho-pants look at the world.

Incirlik is not "our" base. It is Turkey's and we are but "tenants".

In fact, the base commander was Turkish-- until he was captured and tortured following the "failed" "coup".

It was reported as it happened on Fox. And as has been pointed out, this is not ‘our’ base.

Some insist that the turks know how far to go without going too far. I’m not so sure.

I’m thinking they believe they have nothing to worry about even if they do go too far. The japs did it 75 years ago. I doubt we have the same resolve now though for retaliation.

Sound far fetched? I’m not so sure it is.
