Good deal! And congrats on the move to a "saner" location.

One of the single best improvements you can do yourself is to get a decent trigger for it. The factory triggers are goshawful. I had a Rock River 2 stage in a light varminter set up and it was a big help for ~$100. It ain't a Geissele, but it was still a great improvement over the factory and assisted in the demise of many varmints. d:^)

I pretty much reload everything I shoot. For .308 caliber rifles the 168 SMK gives me outstanding results. When loading for the M1A case length is critical for proper headspace, every round is re-checked with a case gauge.
My next reloading project is 110 grain V-max in the M1A.I want to see how well the gun works with these and also how well they shoot out to 500 yards.

Within 6 months of my divorce I hit the road; its been just over 4 years here and I’m very happy with the decision.

Amen on that RR 2 stage, exactly what I’d planned on...the Geissele is nice but out of my budget. I think rails and a stock upgrade will follow

Just got Momma a new 6.8 upper from Palmetto State for deer and pigs. I'm diggin the float tube that came on it. Can't say I've ever enjoyed anything with quad rails. Much prefer some kindof small diameter smoothie keymod/M-lock I can place rails on as needed. I think most of those are pretty simple to install anymore.

I was following a thread on Lone Star Boars about buying property in Texas. They were saying people were waiting in line to buy there. d:^)

Nice choice...I’m waiting for one of the 6 mili rounds (spc/grendal) or 300blk to get a little more economical before I pick a secondary upper...also considering a piston conversion at some point. Really like the platform, so many options, too bad my budget isn’t bigger lol

To be honest I’m just focusing on chow and mags; picked up a decent sling and my chest rig should arrive in the next few days.I had to sell almost my whole collection (miss my Garand the most sniff sniff) to pay my divorce lawyer; kept the G21 SF for work (armed security) and only just recently picked up the M&P

And God bless Texas, get out here if you can brother, feel so blessed to live in a Free State finally. I tried to get my ex to move out here or somewhere similar, but she wasn’t having it.

A l'il load tuning goes a long way. Have you ever tried it with surplus or factory offerings? If loading is the difference makes an M1A a reasonable shooter I may hafta check further into that.
I've been running the 125gr SST's in the SCAR. Great for where I hunt. Mostly 300 and under. So BC isn't a big consideration and I like the light recoil for fast follow ups if needed.
The VMax's will prolly be a hoot, but I bet they're gonna hafta do some jumpin to the lands. d;^)

AR's really are the "tinker toys" of the shooting world. Hehehe. And more fun to collect than Matchbox cars!
Had a l'il Noveske Diplomat in BLK. But a buddy wanted it worse than I did and that SCAR was eatin me up.
Now I have a BLK in that funky l'il Handi Rifle with a Silencerco can. Doesn't get much quieter than that. Great fun.

Take care. d:^)
