If Cruz is in any way part of something like this, it is the end of his political career, and the only way for him to live this down would be to switch parties. The original agreement was between the first and 2d debates when all candidates agreed and signed that they would support the Republican nominee. Cruz signed that, as did Trump and all 17 of them.
