Social Security under fire for plan to disarm seniors

“It also appears that the adjudication of a recipient as being mentally defective can be made by any federal bureaucrat working for the SSA, and they can make the decision without any medical professional being involved. The often vague and sometimes generalized criteria for this adjudication process described in the proposed regulations clearly denies the basic elements of due process to the affected social security beneficiaries.

“The burden of proving they are competent and/or not mentally defective falls squarely on the Social Security beneficiary. This means the bottom line for Social Security recipients is the same as that for veterans. They are being denied their right to keep and bear arms protected by the Second Amendment without due process of law.

Uh, just a thought. Is the ever present gun safety advocate (and her ass-tro-naught hubby margabby kellygiffords) who 'so strongly believe in the 2nd Amendment' possibly subject to this ruling? Does she receive SSI money? Can she balance a check book? Seems to me if that's the case, that all their beloved firearms would require removal from their home. I mean for safety reasons and all. There was a video of her at the range in Vegas shooting after the incident that left her with a certain mental deficiency and it showed margabby rushing out to secure her firearm as she started to turn towards the safe zone. Weird huh?

Should this also cover “Public Servants” that continually make DELIBERATE FALSE STATEMENTS??

YES

Should this also cover “Public Servants” that are Incapable of Balancing a Budget on behalf of the Public??

YES

That should cover about 95% of ALL PUBLIC SERVANTS IN THE US.

When I was a kid, we had this thing called The Bill of Rights in America. “Rights” weren’t just liberal psychobabble meaning more free stuff for the freeloaders.

If things keep sliding into hell like they’ve been, we might need the help of the Greatest Generation one last time. Disarming them would be a huge mistake.

Somebody will need to fire the second “Shot Heard ‘Round the World” and they’re the only ones with balls enough to do it. Sad state of affairs that we need to rely on 90+ year old men to take the initiative for our freedom, but we’ve become a generation of delicate snowflakes and keyboard patriots. Heaven forbid that we would risk our own safety for something like liberty.

De facto they can disarm everyone going group by group. Older people, young people, former military people, those who have had a DUI, those who have had any physical issue such as poor eyesight, dizziness, those who take medications for anxiety or sleep disorders, those who are around small children, those on the no-fly list...the subgroups of ineligible is infinite and everybody could be found to fit in some subgroup.

If one is deprived of the ability to balance their lack of size and strength to defend themselves against the stronger and younger people then there should be private security provided around the clock at no expense, just as is done for public officials. Old people are already targeted by ne’er do wells who know they are fragile physically.

“As is the case with the VA’s so-called ‘adjudication process’ the proposed SSA regulations contain confusing and ambiguous definitions of who constitutes a ‘representative payee,’ the criteria for appointing such a payee, and why the appointment of such a payee automatically classifies a Social Security Disability Insurance beneficiary as mentally defective for the purpose of NICS,” said a comment letter submitted to the SSA."

If somebody cannot handle their own money...and it has to be sent to another person to be doled out in the recipients best interest...they SHOULD NOT BE ENTITLED TO PURCHASE OR POSSESS a firearm.

Now, if somebody is gaming the system for some unknown reason, they should change their status and manage their won money and payments.

Their status is prima facie proof of mental illness/inadequacy. And federal law excludes them from firearm purchases.

If somebody petitioned for such status, they really screwed up and should work to change it.

IF they are able. Which most aren't.

Why do you think doctors are now asking about guns in the house? It isn’t “to keep you safe”. Doctors now work for the government, and carry out the government’s wishes. The government has access to anything that the doctor reports to the health insurance carrier.
Why do you think they started obammycare?

You support the "right" of retards and schizophrenics to purchase firearms?

You're the one who is totally off base here.

Here's hoping one of them finds you.

And all of those today who claim that it “reasonable” to use an anonymous, non-verified “no fly list” of “terrorists” as a criteria for seizing firearms ....

But you CANNOT arrest (or even investigate!) a Muslim for terrorism. Until he shoots a room full of homosexuals.

You know folks, if it weren’t for all the “Seniors Gangs” roaming towns across America, I might be against this.

Oh wait!

What the hell?

What problem is this designed to resolve?

Once again our leaders spend their time solving problems that don’t exist, and ignore the ones that do.

The other one that is coming up is people claiming they need a therapy animal for various reasons so they can take pets on planes or have it with them all the time, and thus losing their second amendment rights due to the mental illness category used to get permission to take the animal everywhere.

Those “doctors” need to be reminded about the 251,000 patients who are killed every year due to medical mistakes.
