Trump’s Two Homers: Pence and a Promise for a Declaration of War
National Review ^ | 07/14/2016 | LARRY KUDLOW

Posted on 07/17/2016 11:16:05 PM PDT by MaxistheBest

The GOP nominee surges while Hillary’s stock seeks bottom.

Trump hit two home runs this week. The first, immediately following the horrific terrorist truck attack in Nice, was his statement in a media interview that if elected he would ask Congress for a declaration of war to combat global terrorism. The second was the inspired selection of Indiana governor Mike Pence to join the GOP ticket. Before getting to Pence, let me linger a moment on Trump’s declaration-of-war pronouncement.

For well over a year I have argued for a Washington wake-up call whereby the president and Congress enact a formal declaration of war against ISIS and all other Islamic jihadist terror groups. These groups have declared war on us. We have yet to respond.

Following the tragic terrorist attacks in Paris late last year, French president Francois Hollande declared war on ISIS. It was an act of courage. But France had to go it alone.

France has been an American ally for about 250 years. It is a key member of NATO. But President Obama never stood shoulder to shoulder with Hollande and asked for a declaration of war against ISIS. Nor did he use American clout for a NATO declaration of war.

--------------------------------------------------

Trump’s second home run was his selection of Mike Pence as his running mate. Down through the years, as a leader of the conservative House Republican Study Committee and later as the third-ranking member of the House Republican leadership team, he stood firm as a genuine and consistent conservative. On economic policy Pence has held to the key building block of growth. He is a budget hawk who voted against President George W. Bush’s fiscally bloated No Child Left Behind education bill and hyper-expensive Medicare prescription-drug bill. He said he would not support new middle-class entitlements.

Yes, she has, and still is.

Still, the VP is a minor play: bunt single, sac fly.

Unless he can thrash Hillary’s VP pick.

I don’t think the dems have anyone more qualified than is Pence. He had quite a few terms in the HOR, good record and accomplishments, and he’s a very successful governor. He’s got a poster-perfect typical Midwest family, and he’s a good age to become VP. I can’t think of anyone on the dem side with such an impeccable and broad-ranging resume.

From what I could see Kudlow never was a “never Trump”.I believe he was open to Trump from the beginning, especially with Trump’s tax plan.

France has been an American ally for about 250 years.

Who denies us overflight rights. Some friend. Look, I feel sorry for the French. But they are no friends of ours.

Kudlow was the host in the 2006 video where Steve King explained to his friend the humble Mike Pence why his touchback amnesty bill was a bad idea.

I support Mike Pence in part because at that. We’ve had to deal with smirking Rand Paul & Ted Cruz with their BS on immigration.

Don’t fool yourself i am french , living in France , and i can tell that Hollande is a nut and an UTTER DHIMMY MUSLIM-FRIENDLY .

Obama and UE , most of european politicians are croocked globalist dhimmies who steadily and deliberatly want to allow and increase a big muslim immigration , ie crowds receiving benefits and future voters .....
For those political croocks , certainly receiving dirty funds from Qatar and Saudi Arabia , the obvious goal is also to weaken and our culture , civilization , identity , unity and , as consequence , our strength ;

hOLLANDE is a cynical lame duck who doesn’t want to fight the war that worldwide islam declared and launched against us

Without France, there would be no USA. But yes, France does indeed behave badly from time to time. It’s something of a love-hate relationship I suppose. But today, under attack, she is our long-term friend.

And now I’m worried. Neo-cons saying nice things about Trump is not what I want to hear.

Larry Kudlow has been very supportive of Trump for a long time. This isn’t new.
