Has US base in turkey been seized by Turkey
Twitter feed | Self

Posted on 07/17/2016 5:29:06 AM PDT by ncfool

Seems Twitter feeds are being blocked on news about the base being held hostage. Why? Past 4 hours. Has the base been invaded by Turkey?

How could we have our own base be breached and not secure?

In that case, the US contingent is an inconvenienced bystander. We'll know soon.

Yeah.

Worst case, they return our B61s to us one city at a time.

THEY are holding our Military people as HOSTAGES or PRISONERS!!! THIS CANNOT STAND!!!

Poor obama, they can only hold them hostage for 187 days under his watch, Jimmah Carter's 444 day record will stand.

No. It’s not OK with me.

But since the commander of the base (a Turk) is alleged to be a coup leader and is still on site, and it’s their base not ours, I’d advocate for chilling a bit while the Turks (who are not allies of ours) sort their sh*t out.

I very much doubt there are nukes there. If there are, I would use force to go get them.

In other words, a borrowed base.

Incirlik is a Turkish base with American and other nations using it. It is not an “American” airbase:

ah let's but don't let facts get in the way of a false narrative

The US military at these locations has always had backup generator capacity for emergencies. So communications and emergency lighting, etc, will be available.

What happens if they cut off the water?

As for Turkey. Remote unaccompanied tours for my job was like prison for a year - never got off the installation, really.

When I said no, they sent me to ICELAND for 6 weeks TDY and 3 days left when I got back to process out of the AF at Maguire AFB, NJ.

I had to get the house closed out, the wife and kid ready through passports/visas, ship household goods, car, EVERY damned unit on the base had to sign off something. But I did it! By damn I did it.

I came home and we stayed at my mom’s and I drank beer and sat on my ass for a month then got a job right off making $1800/year more than I did with 8 years in the AF. Then I buckled down and a year later, I was accepted to Georgia Tech as a 27 year old freshman - and I worked. I did it in 13 quarters with a 3.2 GPA and got a BSEE.

I paid more in state income taxes than I made the entire year in the AF. Later years I paid more SS than that. My income kept going up and up and it actually was because I used what I’d learned from my time in the AF. When they screw you, screw back harder.

I read elsewhere on FReerepublic in recent days that nuclear weapons haven’t been in Turkey for more than a decade.

I hope that is correct.

I just asked our resident expert about the nukes in Turkey on another thread.

“according to multiple sources, the nukes were moved out in the 1980s.”

So, why has the US spent over 200 Million bucks in upgrades to Nuke Storage at Incirlik in the last 3 years?

The answer is “multiple sources” are FOS. The nukes were there just before the consolidation of power by Erdogan. Watch for a “horrible accident” there in the next few days that eliminates US forces there.

There is no way any U.S. nuclear weapon should ever be outside of U.S. custody and control, even on foreign soil.

How does this article tie to the Clinton foundation. This article was written on July 13 two days before the coup.

What was on the server about this information that was covered up. Loretta Lynch.

I am thinking they are earmarked for Israel. Don’t forget, 0bama refers to the Levant almost daily, and that means no Israel.

Apparently the water to Incirlik has indeed been cut off. There should be at least short term emergency supplies of potable water. Too what extent these are there and how potable they are is another question. Generators and their fuel supplies are regularly tested and easily monitored by Civil Engineering, etc. Emergency water? Who knows? I’m sure there is bottled water at the Exchange and the Commissary. It can be rationed for a few days.
