There's a million people to choose who have Trump’s views on trade and immigration who are elected - just not in D.C. That's why I hope at some point down the road, he changes his VP to a smart, freedom-loving outsider businessman-type with a fire in his belly who will be ready, willing, and able to walk into the presidency in 2024 to lead the almost impossible task ("but for God") to dismantle the 80%+ unconstitutional portion of the federal government: most cabinet departments and ALL of the unconstitutional Administrative/Regulatory/Socialist State.

Without that, the "Trump Movement" will merely be a speed bump on the road to ruin, the way the short-lived Reagan Revolution turned out to be. Dismantling most of the $4 trillion central government MUST happen if America and her freedom is to survive for the next few decades. It's a God thing, but so is this current "movement". I'm trusting the right people will be at the right places at the right time for this miracle to happen, not unlike the miraculous founding of our country.

VPs rarely get to be "elected" to the presidency. It really shouldn't be a consideration in this day and age.

True...but if VP didn’t come about, he could have re-registered to run for governor...being his own replacement..

We need to win in 2016, and Pence will help.

traditionally "presidential" image

AKA politically correct - what got us here in the first place. I'm told the people of Indiana don't like Pence and Pence also railed against Trump's stringent Muslim-vetting immigration plan. Pence sounds and feels like a kind of PC type guy. Don't need that.

So, OK, Pence is his VP but doesn't necessarily have to stay VP for eight years. We'll see. We need a guy who can step into the WH in 2024 who is ready, willing and able to lead the wrecking crew to take down most of the central government which is unconstitutional.

I thought it wasn’t Pence.

The actual word was that it wasn't a done deal until we heard directly from Trump - he believes that the buck really does stop with him as any true leader would be wont to do.

Out of the last 5 VP’s that ran for President, which ones lost?

Al Gore — Barely lost
Cheney/Biden don’t count, both were selected precisely because they weren’t going to run for President.
Bush Senior won one term.
LBJ doesn’t count.

Not so much History in “this day and age” on the matter.

I am so glad. Pence was always my first choice. I just posted on another thread...Pence is so dignified. And Trump needs all the help he can get in the dignified category. Just sayin’.

Trump picked him because he will add some balance to his own style and broaden the base - even though they disagree with some things (Reagan said it would be nice if a running mate agreed 100% but that a person who agreed 70% of the time was your friend) and Pence doesn't slap the conservatives in the face - Cruz endorsed Pence.

Pence should be win win win for Trump's team.

Besides, Pirro is going to be the go-to source for legal information once AG Christie starts prosecuting the Clintons and all the Obama traitors and other offenders.

I’m sure Pence, as well as others, are rethinking things on the ban, considering recent events in France, and here.

Agreed. Both Trump and Pence need to do some rethinking about tweets, too. I seriously doubt the two men were ever really on opposite poles of the issues of immigration, the constitution, and national security. I do not believe Trump would have offered Pence the VP slot, nor would Pence have accepted it, had both men not been completely assured of each others' commitment to the same principles.

From what I can tell, Pence's tweet was in reaction to the inaccurate press characterization of Trump's statement. They turned his statement into a blanket, no-exception ban against all persons of a particular religion. Trump bears responsibility for imprecision of language that allowed the left to twist his meaning and portray it that way. Pence bears responsibility for taking the bait.

I believe Newt has nailed the precise, common denominator language that must replace our current focus on Islam as a religion. This is about Sharia Law. It is in direct conflict with the constitution. It is not about religion. A technicality, perhaps, but a highly significant technicality that places the debate firmly in the secular camp and on solid constitutional ground.

Indiana

Ohio, Michigan

Not Illinois

Maybe Wisconsin

The time for discussing whether or not Pence is the best choice is over.

Agreed. For better or worse we must play the cards dealt us to a November victory. No sense debating it now. Trump has chosen and I assume he has his reasons. Pence doesn't excite me but I think he might grow on me over time. At first glance, his bio looks pretty solid. I'm going to support this ticket.

Trumpence. Sounds like “tuppence” (two pennies).

Whaddyabet the Left will counter with that: “TUPPENCE” - “not worth much.”

Oh well, Trump will win anyway.
