Mike Pence, Trump's Likely VP Pick, Is Too Anti-Gay Even for Republicans
Daily Beast ^ | July 15, 2016 | Jay Michaelson

The Indiana governor and culture warrior would balance the ticket with a twice-divorced, proud philanderer at the top -- except he legalized discrimination against LGBT people with a law so extreme other GOP states rejected it.

In choosing Mike Pence as his running mate, Donald Trump has shored up the GOP's religious base. But based on the Indiana governor's disastrous run-in with pro-business Republicans and moderates last year over gay rights, Trump may have just lost the election.

[Snip]

Unlike Newt Gingrich and Chris Christie, Pence has been a right-wing culture warrior for his entire career. As Samantha Allen detailed at The Daily Beast recently, Pence has been so outspoken in his anti-abortion politics that he even spawned a hashtagged backlash among women, #periodsforpence. Pence has walked the talk for years, pushing through one of the nation’s most restrictive anti-abortion laws and voting to defund Planned Parenthood years before it was cool to do so.

[Snip]

But the LGBT issue has been a different story.

When Pence turned against the LGBT community last year, pushing through a "Religious Freedom Restoration Act," or RFRA, that allowed businesses to turn away gay customers, enabled corporations to deny insurance coverage to LGBT people (and women), and, more broadly, was accurately interpreted as a gift to the anti-gay fringe of the Christian Right (such as the lobbyists who stood behind Pence when he signed the law), the business community rebelled.

The reason wasn't altruism, but capitalism. In the furor over Indiana's RFRA, the state lost 12 large conventions, an estimated $60 million in business, and an untold number of businesses choosing to locate elsewhere, with the Hoosier State rebranded as the Hater State.

When faggots, black lies matter, illegal immigrants and muslim sensitivities started calling all the shots and telling everyone else what to do, what to think and how to live in this country is when things started falling apart here and around the world. It’s time to STOP THE NONSENSE. The world used to look up to the United States as the decent, moral, law-abiding people to take care of evil when it rears its ugly head. We haven’t been doing our job, that’s how we ended up here.

This statement is nonsense because it contains unsupported assertions. The law was NOT extreme.

Men living with men are friends. Women living with women are friends. Laws that mock marriage are invalid. Gender confusion is a treatable mental disorder. Deviant sexual behavior leads to both mental and physical illnesses, some of which are fatal and transmittal to innocents.

Passing laws that force people to pretend that mock marriage and deviant behavior are normal go against the protection of the safety of the population elected officials have sworn to protect. Such officials should be liable for the damage they cause.

Amazing. Rights? It’s now at the point where it’s unsafe to use public restrooms. Normal people are going to vote for their own safety, on so many issues.

So, this Daily Beast LGBT activist is going to stir up the non-voting Christians to actually get out and vote this time? Nice!

He is not a Jew. He has broken the Covenant of Sinai. He will be cast into outer darkness and a Gentile will convert and take his place at the Table of Messiah. The Feast of Leviatan will be full, but he will not be there. It would have been better for such a man not to have been born.

If this is the BEST they can do, then Trump made a great pick.

.. RFRA, that allowed businesses to turn away gay customers ..

IOW, to not be forced by .gov guns to cater to the whims of 'customers' not of their choosing.

+1

I ate at Chik-fil-A in a local Mall yesterday.

1. They had by far the longest lines in the food court.

2. Because of my haircut and build, etc., they asked if I was eligible for their police discount.

3. Their food was, as always, very good.

There is a whole lot more support for religious freedom than this author realizes, and a whole lot less support for perversion than liberals assume. The people who won’t vote for Trump/Pence, if that the ticket, because of Pence are the same social justice warriors who wouldn’t vote for Trump no matter what.

Wow, he’s my Governor and since I live down by the river, we don’t hear much about him here. I was not happy with the pick but now, HE ROCKS! He’s done everything I would have done and the businesses that left, they’d have left anyway and who wants a bunch of fruits having their conventions here.

"But Indiana ATTRACTED a lot more businesses, which this report fails to mention. Pence has been a great governor since Mitch."

Lets get to the reason IMHO, Right to Work. They stole a ton of Jobs in during the Granholm Years here in Michigan, many Auto Tier Suppliers. So how much is Indiana Tax Policy, Right to Work, or Pence's Leadership. Indiana Freeper's please opine....

Democrsts support Sheria law, which throws gays off of 8 story building, that can’t be too much fun.

I was disappointed in Trump's apparent VP choice, until I read the accusations against him. I'm on board now. ;)

Dang! It is a good thing I am not a Republican.
