¡Adios America! makes the case that the entire planet, except N. America, Europe, Australia, and Japan, is a vast sea of rape—gang rape, girl-rape, boy-rape, and rape rape. The statistics bear out the argument that importing Muslims and Hispanics is asking for explosions in rape of children and adults of both sexes.

I met Buchanan several years ago. The first words out of his mouth were insulting and obnoxious. With a smug smirk.

True. Perot and Buchanan were right on this.

All the Republicans we sent to DC to do the right thing and we get told take a potato and wait.

Like Ryan passing Obama's budget and then saying that GOPeers need to get together and implement a true conservative agenda, blowing it on at least two counts: 1. the budget is the agenda to 0th, 1st and 2nd order approximation; and 2. Once you passed the budget you gave up your leverage since Obama can then veto anything you pass, without any consequences or blow-back.

It also proved him to be a liar, hypocrite and dupe, but we needn't go there right now.

What no one in officialdom wants to understand is the fairly simple concept that immigration policy should serve the interests of citizens. First, foremost, primarily. Only.

When they work out the numbers, how many, from what countries, with what skill sets, this should all be done with the interests of citizens in mind. When they pick a number, they should be able to explain what the number is and how and why they arrived at that number. They never do, of course, they will never tell you what the policy is, they won’t tell you what the true numbers are, they won’t tell you how the arrived at those numbers.

And they surely won’t ask for your approval.

This is where Trump’s support comes from. People get the game, and they want a new game.

Brevity and wit are the essence of compelling writing; an ability out of the reach of this pretentious journo windbag. Instead we get 10 relentless paragraphs of blather amounting to zero.
As for Principled Conservatism, it reaches back to Greece and Rome, the founders of Western Civilization.
Because a sense of time (history) and of place(geography) is neither taught nor understood; average citizens have absolutely no grasp of the essence of Conservatism.
One clown insisted over more than 70 posts that the core of conservatism was “gun rights”. Hm.............

Pat was right and years ahead of most on the immigration and trade issues. But he was pretty gruff at times and too easy for opponents to demonize.

Even after he went off the rails he still got 19% of the electorate and the GOP continued to pay no attention.

remember what Conservatism is, and the Republican Party hasn't been it since Ronald Reagan.

It wasn't really conservative then either, it was better but unenduring.

Pat Buchanan had some success, but just wasn’t a big enough personality to overcome the opposition.

Some recall he was pilloried here and supporters were warned, many left. He was painted as an antisemitic and defeated.

Was that before or after he fooled people into believing he was really trying to win?

Rewriting his history won’t make any difference.

This article is hilarious, trying too hard to find the simple answer. SMH

Trump is what we hoped Bush was going to be. If Bush had been more like Trump, Obama wouldn’t have occupied the WH and Hillary would not be running today.

I disagree with you. That arrogant pos was elected by racists, and I am not talking about the blacks who voted for him, because that is understandable. I am talking about the whites who voted for him because he was black.

Also it did not help that so many on our side sat the general election out, because they did not like the Republican nominee. The same goes for his reelection.

I can see your point but I believe Bush's "compassionate conservatism" and inability to use the Bully Pulpit in an effective way opened the door for Obama's "change America into something Moochelle can be proud of" crap.

The Black thing is just an indication of how sick our society is when it comes to discerning values and important issues.

Many of us actually had to hold our nose a bit to vote Bush but his opponents were bad enough that we managed - funny how so many of us opted to not vigorously oppose Obama - lazy apathy is my guess.

At any rate - there's plenty of room for either/both/portions of both to be part of the mix.

“Like Ryan passing Obama’s budget an”.....

Exactly like that and countless other examples. I suppose “having the rug pulled out from under you” or “getting the wind knocked out of you” would also be an apt metaphors, but “take a potato and wait” feels truer.
