How the GOP is courting John Kasich
cnn ^

Posted on 07/13/2016 7:41:12 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

Cleveland (CNN)John Kasich may be the most intensely courted man in the Buckeye State.

With just seven days until the GOP convention, the quest to convince Kasich to back Donald Trump -- or even participate in the convention he campaigned to bring to Cleveland -- has been quiet but feverish. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus has pressed Kasich allies, even promising that donors will spring to aid Kasich's future endeavors if he cooperates now. Trump's top aide, Paul Manafort, has touted their increasingly professional campaign operation in the hopes of winning over the Ohio governor. Even vice presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich is joining the mix, lobbing a last minute plea to Kasich's team to get the governor to back Trump. "The convention is a natural showcase for Republicans uniting behind the Trump campaign," said Ed Brookover, a Trump adviser. "The RNC and the campaign have been working very hard at bringing the forces together and showing that we're united in defeating Hillary Clinton."

If he doesn’t want to play ball, he doesn’t wanna play ball. Let him be. He acted like a complete fool in the primaries anyway. Annoying too.

Governor Kasich, as an Ohioan I beseech you. Stop listening to those people. Turn your cell phone off and get back to work. You were away from your office, touring cutesy little diners in middle America for a number of months during the primaries, and you probably have a whole pile of catch-up work to do.

Please do not let the whispering malcontents who are trying to use you to stop the will of the voters, who have spoken. If you allow your name to be used to disrupt attempts to unify the party, your reputation will be damaged beyond repair.

Ohians gave their vote to you in the primaries. Please don't disappoint those people by conspiring against your party's freely-elected nominee.

Yes, very true.

I’m hoping Mr. Trump can ‘take it to the people’ like Reagan used to. Obviously it has to be in Trump’s own way, but We the People are going to have to put the pressure on the Congress.

The Congress obviously cannot do the right thing on their own.

But, yes, without cooperation from the Congress and other areas of government, President Trump’s hands would be tied.

Trump is 70. Kasich would be 69 in 2020. Kasich did beat Cruz in a lot of states so I’m sure in his ego warped mind he thinks he can run again.

Anyway, he’ll be in the neighborhood & might as well drop in & lobby Trump for a cabinet post.

Great idea, he could be Secretary of Treason

Primary a few folks out like Ryan and McCain, I think that might get their attention...

It might be fun to watch the convention pass over Cruz and go with Kasich. That would serve the Mark Levins right and it would be fun to hear Levin’s head explode.

Thankfully, it looks like the revolting factions are not gaining much at all for their efforts. Trump will get the nomination and face Clinton in the fall.

[and it would be fun to hear Levin’s head explode.]

The night after Trump’s nomination will be the first time that I will be listening to Levin in several months. I cannot wait to hear him self destruct on air. Between him and the plethora of NeverTrumpers on social media, I will have to fully stock up on lots of popcorn!

Mitch Daniels was Director of OMB b4 returning to Indiana to run for Governor. Kasich should get a high profile job as a Press Spokesman in the 1st year of the Trump administration. Then he should run for the Senate in 2018 after ruffling some feathers on both sides.

Cleveland, Ohio - a former American rust-belt city that was destroyed in the great Trump Riot of 2016. Armed, pitchfork-wielding supporters of Donald Trump, who had descended upon the Republican National Convention en-masse to thwart a plan by GOP leadership to wrest the nomination from Trump, came into armed conflict with large numbers of Black Lives Matter protesters who had also come to Cleveland for the Convention. After Trump supporters inflicted heavy casualties on BLM they executed a scorched-earth retreat, burning and looting the city as they fled. Local police and firefighters refused to intervene as city leaders had taken the side of the BLM protesters. Trump was nominated on the second ballot as a condition of GOP leadership negotiations with Trump supporters over terms for being allowed to exit the building. This episode is deemed by most historians to mark the official end of the Republican Party. It was replaced by the American Patriot Party, which continues along with the American Democrat-Socialist Party as our two major parties today. The former site of Cleveland is now a National Park, which contains a memorial to the fallen in the Trump Riot, next to a golden statue of LeBron James.

Kasich will never be Trump’s Press Secretary, for a number of reasons.

He could still hope to be a cabinet officer if he gets his act together and supports Trump right away.
