The next time someone complains about the “epidemic” of gun violence, point out this awkward fact:

The 10,945 firearm homicides in 2014 represented a 40-percent drop from the peak hit in 1993, when there were 18,253 firearm homicides in the country, according to CDC data.

Far from being an epidemic, lethal gun violence is far below its peak almost a quarter of a century ago. This data comes from a report written by Terrence Jeffrey at CNSNews:

For all the good it might do with anyone's liberal uh, acquaintances, if you are a facebook'er type, you might post this. Of course the rub would be that the info came from some radical extremists right wing web site. And how many more guns are in circulation now thanks to the #1 salesperson of the decade?

This is basically the argument that shuts down every lib talking talking point about gun control. If they persist, you can always mention the fact that so called “assault rifles” are used in about 2-3% of US homicides in a given year.

LOL! Their counter would be; “Well that’s 2-3% too much.”

There is a problem with using the data in arguments.

1. Common Core does not teach statistics, nor the importance of them.
2. The average high school student not infected with Common Core, has been taught how they are that which the Sun revolves around, and not much else.
3. I doubt that the demonstrated majority of minorities have the mental acumen necessary to grasp an idea, not presented to them by their Democratic elected plantation owners.

“...It just annoys them ...”

Which is MORE than enough reason right there to do it...

“Get in their faces”, didn’t a certain douchebag say to his adoring fans, some years back???

1. Not my problem.
2. Not my problem.
3. Not my problem.

It may take them a year to process the data with what they call a brain...but it will sink in. Eventually.

The number is less than 1%. If you include rifles of all types it is about 2.8%.

In comparison about 13% are killed with knives, 3.5% by blunt objects, and 5.5% by fists, feet, hands, etc.

the “epidemic” is in all the irrational know nothing agenda driven reporters trying to “make a difference” instead of reporting the truth.

We do not have the luxury of ‘it may take a year’, and in that, if ‘the problem’ is not corrected in November, your apathy will indeed reap you ‘the problem’, and me, likewise.

Yes it does. It’s fun to whack the thick papier mache pinatas libs use for skulls and watch all the crazy spill out.

Yep, their minds are made up and no facts will dissuade them, I’ve tried. Same as arguing facts regarding global climate change.

Indeed it does not shut them down...but it might make them retreat to rambling defense mode. This is that state someone gets in when they are doubting their own position but are too loathe to acknowledge it even to themselves...and they have to ramble on for a while to maintain the polite illusion of intelligence. I find it best not to embarrass them by pressing the point once they are there. Just be prepared to put them back there the next time they say something stupid...but don’t antagonize them or get riled up. This approach will persuade over time. No approach persuades over night unless you are dealing with somebody rational already...and liberalism does not manifest in such people very long. We have to train patiently....
