Newt Gingrich: White Americans ‘Don’t Understand Being Black in America’
The Atlanta Journal Constitution ^ | July 8, 2016

Posted on 07/08/2016 9:53:41 AM PDT by Cecily

Never let it be said that Newt Gingrich is predictable.

As the political world waits to see if the former Georgia congressman and U.S. House speaker gets tapped to be Donald Trump’s running mate, Gingrich teamed up with his former Crossfire partner Van Jones to discuss this week’s shootings in Dallas, Baton Rouge and Minnesota.

Speaking on Facebook Live, Gingrich was his typically direct self. But, in this age of polarized politics, whether it be of the electoral or racial variety, Gingrich’s comments were also remarkable. Here is the key quote:

“It took me a long time, and a number of people talking to me through the years to get a sense of this. If you are a normal, white American, the truth is you don’t understand being black in America and you instinctively under-estimate the level of discrimination and the level of additional risk.”

With his few words he made himself wholly irrelevant, and unelectable.

Trump needs to distance himself from Newt. He is career suicide.

Also: Yes, I do not understand the black experience. It is wholly foreign to me. I see their violence-as-policy, the indolence, the constant excuse making, and the utter lack of morality and say: yeah, I do not understand those people, nor do I need to.

The hands down most important (and only) thing I need to know about those people is that I need to keep my family far away from them so that they can stay alive and unraped.

I bet they wouldn't want to be black in any African nation Newt could name

I agree, I don’t understand them and their lives either. All I know are the facts of my life - I have been a victim of three violent, armed robberies all by young black men in my life when I was hustling to make money for college as a cabbie at night.

I don’t understand why this demographic is so prone to violence and is generally a laggard in all economic categories, despite the hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars spent on their behalf. Let’s not fail to mention highly discriminatory policies customized for them such as affirmative action.

Spare me the crocodile tears about these poor people and all the injustices they have suffered. I have met many honest, law-abiding poor people in my life, having been one myself. All I know is that my interactions with blacks over the years has led me to be very, very wary of them and their intentions.

But I do not blame them. They almost can’t get out of their own way. But I take great offense at the do-gooder pandering liberals who enable their bad behavior every step of the way, while having nothing to do with them. Curses to these fools.

Newt is so modest. *We* don’t understand, but *he* does. We are stupid but he is smart. We are clueless, but he is wise.

If Trump picks this insufferable elitist, Trump is nowhere near as astute as I imagine him to be.

it’s worse than that. in DC, they had minority-only bidding rules for contracts. that means ONLY minority-owned companies could submit and win bids for government contracts.

the problem was that there were virtually no REAL minority-owned companies that could do the work required. so a bunch of black insiders from DC government went out and started forming shell companies that existed only on paper. they would win the contracts and then subcontract out the work to real companies that were forbidden from bidding on the contracts (because they weren’t minority owned). the work got done, but the black insiders who didn’t do any of the work, skimmed off a healthy percentage of the contract cost for themselves. in short, lots of them got really rich off the taxpayer for doing nothing other than being born black.

Let’s see.... Lower GPA requirements to get into colleges, more scholarship money available, lower requirements in GPA and test scores to get into graduate and professional colleges. Med schools just say yes if you’re a black woman applying and no worries about failing. They will pass you.

Easier to get a job when applying or position when applying, all those minority HR needs....

Rap sucks though, so there is that.

Blacks need to quit being ‘black’ Americans and just be Americans. Sure they will come across racist but we all do, and we all have obstacles.

Newt STFU, at times he is brilliant but then he opens his mouth and out comes the garbage.

he was concerned that he might be subjected to a search of their bags owing to his physical appearance.

And who the hell's fault is that when the store owners are victimized by certain types

It is called self preservation

No, head up butt and jump. How dare he preach to anyone.

Most blacks have a chip on their shoulder. They don’t like being black and they are bitter because they can’t be white. They will never be satisfied. They can’t come to grips with themselves. They are the same in Africa as they are here. I know, I’ve experienced it in both places.

Here they have been conditioned to believe they deserve compensation, they are underprivlidged and mis-treated. It has caused them to be feral. White trash have a similar attitude.

Most of them stubbornly refuse to assimilate and stew in black culture that further drives them down generation after generation.

So yeah, I understand.

Our elder parents are often the price we pay for our raising. Black insurgency and the mass of trouble that a mere 12.3% of the population make is the price of slavery or something? How long will it go on?

“. If you are a normal, white American, the truth is you don’t understand being black in America and you instinctively under-estimate the level of discrimination and the level of additional risk.””

To the contrary, normal white Americans understand what being black is better than blacks because we aren’t jaded nor have been brainwashed to accept that blacks are oppressed by whites. They don’t understand what it is like to have a job given to someone else, not because of skill set, but because of pigment. They don’t understand the promises given them election after election which amounts to nothing. They don’t understand how they are used and abused by the hand that purports to feed them.

They see the world as what is owed them because of their skin color. We actually know what it means. But what they really do not understand is on any given weekend in Chicago, that’s the norm and not the exception.

When I look at blacks I see Condoleeza Rice, Colin Powell, Alan West, Hermann Cain. I see what anyone, regardless of skin color is capable of. They see Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson Corrine Brown and the CBC, race baiters who make their living off of the backs of self oppressed blacks.

Refusing to open their eyes to what is going on around them isn’t my problem, nor should I be blamed for their problems. It will only be the day they take the Reverend Wrights of the world and string them up will they shed their stigma of being oppressed by whitey.

Well spoken and accurate.

Most blacks want to live in a thug subculture of about 12% of the population and apparently feel entitled to cause about 75% of all the trouble in the country.

Thanks, from the tenor of the other posts, it appears that FR is fraught with rednecks today. The anti-Newt “longknives” are out in force.

I had that said to me by a black friend more than 35 years ago.

My response to him was: “True. But, you also don’t know what it’s like to be WHITE in this country”.

We simply do not look at every issue in our lives through a racial lens. Black people do.

Well... the ones who haven’t figure out how to be successful and happy in life yet do.

Almost all the trouble that any person suffers is rooted in his own behavior.

There are few exceptions to this.

Anyone who thinks that Newt is a conservative is nuts. He was a conservative twenty or thirty years ago, when it suited him and gave him power. But he dropped it as soon as it was convenient.

He’s no more conservative than Liar Ted.
