A Minnesota traffic stop turned deadly Wednesday evening as a police officer opened fire on a black driver.
The victim, 32-year-old Philando Castile, died at a Minneapolis hospital, a family member told The Washington Post. Castile’s mother, Valerie Castile, told CBS Minnesota that her son had died at Hennepin County Medical Center.
The St. Anthony Police Department confirmed the driver’s death during a brief Thursday morning press conference but did not identify the officer involved in the shooting or the officer’s race.
The bloody aftermath of the confrontation was broadcast live on Facebook by a female passenger in the car.
“He killed my boyfriend,” said the woman, whose Facebook page named her as Lavish Reynolds, as blood soaked through Castile’s shirt.
In the video, Reynolds says Castile was legally licensed to carry a firearm and was reaching for his identification when the officer opened fire.
“He let the officer know that he had a firearm and he was reaching for his wallet and the officer just shot him in his arm,” she says.

I have been pulled over many times, but have never had a passenger have to show ID?

I don’t know how it works in other states, but Maine is a Constitutional Carry state.
No permit is required to conceal carry a firearm on your person or in your vehicle, but if you are pulled over by a cop, you are required to inform him that you have a concealed weapon on your person or in your vehicle.

I want to hear the audio or see video. There were probably either conflicting commands or some issue with the gun.

Having lived in the Twin Cities for ten years, I have found that the police in that area are incompetent and dangerous. With the exception of rural sheriffs departments, I have little respect for Minnesota law enforcement.
Now I’m back in Texas.

I’m hearing stories that marijuana was in the car, that would give the officer reason to ID the passenger. There’s allot took place before she turned her phone on. With that department there might be video and most likely audio of what took place before shot’s were actually fired.

That’s the new meme. It’s always “for no reason,” or “no good reason.” Once the LIVs hear that they stop listening.
In the responses to this on Conservative Treehouse someone posted a picture of ‘Phil’ and a gang member .....identified them as Crips
I’m in a picture in my late teens with a 3rd cousin who blew up part of a law firm, shot someone dead and was lower level mobster.
I’m straight as an arrow.
Even Crips have non Crip friends, I would assume.
