Sen. Ted Cruz Negotiating Speaking Role at Republican Convention
NBC News ^ | July 6, 2016 | Leigh Ann Caldwell

Posted on 07/06/2016 10:39:47 AM PDT by Innovative

Sen. Ted Cruz may be on the list of speakers at the Republican National Convention that Donald Trump said he plans to release on Thursday.

Three sources, including one close to the Trump campaign, tell NBC News that Cruz is in negotiations for a speaking spot at the convention. It would be a notable shift for Trump, who previously said his former opponents who haven't yet endorsed him wouldn't be invited to speak. In response to those comments from Trump, a Cruz spokeswoman said at the time that the Texas senator wasn't expecting to receive any time on the schedule.

If Cruz does indeed speak at the convention, it would be a boon for both the senator and the presumptive GOP nominee, who is still struggling to unite the party behind his candidacy with less than two weeks to go until the convention kicks off in Cleveland. Cruz is widely expected to make another White House run in the future, and his appearance at the convention would further elevate him within the party. It could also help convince his former supporters to back Trump, many of whom remain skeptical of the presumptive nominee — and a small cohort of whom are trying to force a contested convention to oust Trump.

Unfortunately, I don't think we have any indication that Cruz is willing to bury the hatchet. He could just as easily be preparing to give a bitter and divisive speech which would further damage party unity.

Cruz would rather Hillary win than Trump...He will do almost anything to keep Trump from winning...You can bet he's still trying to get his ill gotten delegates to reject Trump...

No “score” to settle. Lyn’ Ted reneged and in so many repeated ways has proved to be a liar. He has no place at the convention and Republicans should be ashamed to even discuss making room for him. He brings nothing but trouble and adds absolutely nothing to the convention or to Trump as he competes to beat Clinton. Cruz should stay home, get to work in DC, or move back to his Canadian homeland.

Do you want to win an election or a urination contest?

Can't find #105? I apologize. It wasn't your post; it was Just mythoughts' and addressed to you. But, for the benefit of others, here's what it said.

Oh, worse than that, Ted Cruz claimed there could be a 'case' made that Trump was NOT eligible to hold the office of president because Trumps mother was born in Scotland....Ted Cruz neglected to say that Trumps mother was a US citizen when Trump was born.

Just mythoughts is evidently humor-impaired, as well.

Ted Cruz, if you don't whole-heartedly, unequivocally, endorse Donald Trump, may your word never be relied upon, ever again.

And give me back me back all the money my family gave you!

That’s #2 (see post 157).

Btw, if you had the slightest earthly idea what Cruz’ argument was, you’d know it’s not summarized in post #105. But you are CLUELESS, and insist on proving that fact again and again and again, etc.

If Cruz is allowed to speak, they’ll need a spot for Graham, Bush and that dingbat governor of Ohio as well...May as well invite Romney too...

Okay, I'll bite. What was it?

I’ll summarize it for you just as soon as you explain how you knew it was a joke/humorous without even knowing what it was.

How many people still support Cruz that are not already voting for Trump? 100, or 1,000? Not enough to to care about.

Most Cruz supporters have had one or two minutes to contemplate what a Queen Hillary presidency would be like. That was enough to persuade them to vote against her (via voting for Trump) even if they have to walk barefoot over rough gravel to get to the polls.

My #110 replied to your #107 which was a reply to Just mythoughts #105.

Which was (I repeat myself):

Oh, worse than that, Ted Cruz claimed there could be a 'case' made that Trump was NOT eligible to hold the office of president because Trumps mother was born in Scotland.... Ted Cruz neglected to say that Trumps mother was a US citizen when Trump was born.

What the hell did you think this whole conversation's been about?

Explain the ‘joke,’ again.

Explaining a joke to one without a sense of humor is an exercise in futility.

I'll pass on that, if you don't mind...

He’s an ass. If he won’t endorse the candidate, he has no business getting up to talk. Typical Cruz convinced he’s the smartest guy in the room and everyone deserves him.

That NEEDED to be repeated 3 times. ;-)

Finally, after 37 mindless, hateful, self-defeating burps we read a reply grounded in common sense.

Any time you’re ready to rationally and lucidly explain the joke/humor aspect of Cruz’ comments, I will summarize his argument.
