House Resumes Gun Control Showdown

The gun control fight picked back up in the House of Representatives on Tuesday after Democrats staged a dramatic sit-in demanding action on the issue that lasted more than 24 hours on the chamber floor late last month following the mass shooting in Orlando, Fla.

Speaker Paul Ryan said last week that the House will vote on a larger anti-terrorism package that includes legislation aimed at preventing suspected terrorists from getting their hands on firearms. But the proposal is unlikely to satisfy Democrats who want stricter measures, like expanded background checks, to be put into place.

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has called the proposal Paul will bring to floor -- which is based on previous legislation written by Sen. John Cornyn of Texas -- "toothless." It's likely to go nowhere as a similar measure has already been knocked down in the Senate. Under the proposed GOP legislation, the government can ban gun sales to suspected terrorists but only if they can prove within 72 hours that the person on the watch or no-fly list has links to terrorism -- a provision Democrats say is impossible.

This is also leading to a point to where they will be done with talking to or negotiating with any opposition. They intend to eventually go all in on doing something about them. They have been telegraphing this move for several years now.

With the D.o.J. defecating directly on the noses of John Q. and Jane Q. Public, of course, the gun grabbers have to get back into it, more quickly than ever.

Why???

The cognizant, thinking populace’s fuse has been lit, and they know their time is short, in one definition or another.

Another possibility is to leave the decision to the firearms seller.

no criminal block justified
no mental illness block justified

Sale legally allowed

FBI/AG recommendation: no
a. married to Saudi woman who spent three months in Syria in 2015
b. read these webpages with associated translated quotes in 2016:
...

Expect to be sued if something bad happens as a result of the requested sale since it carries a negative recommendation.

Obama controls the Supreme Court now.

Comprehensive Immigration Reform is always about amnesty.

Common sense gun control is always about steps toward registration.

Ain’t no way we are giving up our guns with a government this corrupt. We would rather shot every bullet we have.

"But the proposal is unlikely to satisfy Democrats who want stricter measures,..."

Not really. They want clerks to be allowed to abolish the 2nd Amendment right of anyone they choose without due process. Others on the right want loads of due process in the courts to enrich lawyers and divide 2nd Amendment rights according to income levels.

As a Canadian you can imagine the hysteria here over guns in the US, where a child is killed every day (per the hysteria).

Indeed, if you count the 505 accidental gun deaths, and if they were all reported on in the media, it would seem like a real outbreak, someone dying more than once per day.

So I tried to explain that although the per capita gun accident deaths are about 2 times the US over Canada, that the number 505 is tiny. Something like 30,000 are killed in car deaths, and another 30,000 (or so) in falling accidents.

Am I going about the argument the right way?

Yes you are but cars, to a liberal, aren't as evil as guns. Those dastardly guns have a mind of their own when it comes to killing innocents, donchaknow.

Liberals have already made their minds up, obediently repeating the talking points they've heard.

As the government aggregates more and more powers not delegated to it in the constitution, they seek simultaneously to disarm the populace.

Coincidence?

No.

Partly.

Tell them that a lot of U.S. citizens would rather shoot a Congressman or his staff than give up the Second Amendment.

Tell them many Americans are tired of all the infringements on the Second Amendment.

Tell them if Canada had the same level of the same minorities that the U.S. has, they would have the same problems, and guns are not the cause.

You talkin about "their" side, or "ours"? I've been to this point for a long time. And after today's lawlessness, I feel even less inclined to follow their BS rules.

if the racist “CBC” really gave a rats=ass-damn about black Americans, they’d demand the repeal of all laws and regulations ... so that good honest black American citizens can easily go out and acquire what they may need to defend themselves and other innocent people

from the criminals and Moslem terrorist gangsters that the “CBC” appears to be working for now....

They say they want to prevent suspected terrorists from getting firearms. And they would be the ones to define who is a terrorist. Won’t be muslims or nutcases.
