The high-capacity gun magazine ban goes into effect July 1, 2017, and the language of the ban – contained in SB 1446 – leaves no question as to the limited options for owners of such magazines:

A person who, prior to July 1, 2017, legally possesses a large-capacity magazine shall dispose of that magazine by any of the following means: (1) Remove the large-capacity magazine from the state. (2) Prior to July 1, 2017, sell the large-capacity magazine to a licensed firearms dealer. (3) Destroy the large-capacity magazine. (4) Surrender the large-capacity magazine to a law enforcement agency for destruction.

Pretty cut and dried on the infringement portion. Anyway, to my cali friends, I can store some of those 11 round magazines for you at a nominal fee of course.

Some will obey. A few might fight. The others will hide them.
And the legal market will encourage people to select magnum revolvers, compact 9s, 40s, and 45s, and Pump shotguns.

So now your mass shooter will have a 12 gauge or a 357 mag. Lovely.

“Bullet Button” now banned. What will the clever ones now come up with to keep their rifles ‘non-assault’?

And what did Hillary Clinton have to say about the this degradation of a woman that day in San Jose?

I’d be looking to buy an M1 Garand Tanker in .308 if I lived in California.

No man shall...be deprived of...property without due process of law...”.

Suppose the legislature said that everyone had to get rid of their automobiles without any compensation? How do you suppose that would be received? This a taking by government, nothing else.

Baby Bro is up from Kali for the 4th. Had a long conversation with him last evening about an exit plan. I have a little box of his magazines in my safe now, awaiting the day when he gets to live in a free country again. According to him the range rats are simply ignoring all this stuff and the cops aren’t really trying very hard to enforce it...yet. When that happens, as it inevitably will, it’s going to be Kristallnacht in Kali, and I don’t want him to be on the receiving end.

Interesting! I don’t know enough about the law to opine on the legality of this.

I guess it hinges on some technicality like the ‘bullet’ being classified as a tool.

"So now your mass shooter will have a 12 gauge or a 357 mag. Lovely."

Charles Whitman used a Remington 700 (bolt action), Lee Harvery Oswald used a $19.95 Carcano Model 91/38 carbine (bolt action) and James Earl Ray used a Remington Model 760 Gamemaster (pump-action). It doesn't take an unusually expensive firearm for a skilled shooter to cause a great amount of damage.

No matter what the gun grabbers do, mass shootings are relatively rare (that's why they make the news). The favored firearms among Chicago gangsters will continue to be revolvers and Glocks (killings so common that Chicago will only make the news if this weekend's murder total is low).

The drug cartels are hastily destroying their high cap mags to comply with the new laws. My guess is that both lawless and law abiding will be giving this law all the respect it deserves.

"..also signed a bill creating ammunition background checks in the state, which means law-abiding citizens will have to go through a background check for ammunition in the same way they go through a check for firearm purchases."

Nevada thanks for you for that Moonbeam.

You just employed hundreds of Gunshops on the Cal-Nevada border.

What are you going to do then? Built an East-German esq wall to prevent people from leaving?
