If you want to know whether a politician is an autocratic elitist there for the power, or a true servant of the people, just look at the kinds of vacations he takes.
As I recall, the Clintons did not mind messing up airport schedules and inconveniencing thousands; they spent a lot of time at Martha's Vineyard. The Obamas took it to another level completely--with multimillion dollar trips for them and a couple hundred of their closest friends, gallivanting to all of the ritzy spots in the world--and when not vacationing somewhere extremely expensive, Obama can reliably be found on the golf course, not actually working. Contrast that to Reagan and the Bushes--their idea of vacation was to go to their ranch, where they spent much of the time working.

As for the current occupants of the WH, their opulent excursions burn enough energy to air condition a small African country for a year while they prattle on how about how everyone else should be “green” and the planet is being destroyed by “climate change”.
The Reagans and Bushes had homes to go to for vacations. The Clintons would have had to go to the governor’s mansion in Arkansas. The Obamas would have gone to Chicago to stay with the Rezkos or the Ayers, or a hut in Kenya.

I hope that Trump brings that up. The Clinton team trashed the White House and stole a bunch of furniture. Probably Hillary’s idea. The Bush team had to spend a lot of time and money to get the White House back in shape.
They had a large house in Chicago.
This was no shack. However, looking at it you can see the security problems it would cause. So, they could have bought a set-back gated estate, or they could have used Camp David. (snort -- I know, right? Camp David was good enough for the hero, Dwight Eisenhower, who save Western Civilization, but not good enough for the community organizer.)
