I wonder why?

Survey finds excess health problems in lesbians, gays, bisexuals

“These restrictions sprung up during the AIDS panic in an era of widespread homophobia, where pastors and pundits publicly proclaimed that HIV was a divine plague on homosexuals.”

This article is pure yellow journalism/propaganda.

The above quote has nothing to do with the original decisions on blood donation and subsequent policies. It is irrelevant to the topic and their argument and is included for visceral effect.

Isaac Asimov also had nothing to say on the matter.

Ryan White and Arthur Ashe were unavailable for comment.

It is madness to use the blood of gays and iv drug abusers if there is sufficient blood supplies. In the wake of the Orlando shootings they had a huge excess of donors of blood and most were straight.

Gays and iv drug abusers are a risk factor. As a medical professional we reduce all risk factors we can. This has nothing to do with morality nor prejudice. We use the drug that will do the job with the least risk. We use the blood and plasma that posses the least risk to the patient. It is insane to increase the risk factors if it can be avoided.

Good, I was trying to see if someone connected the dots here.

Thanks.

Gay men: 2% of the population, yet 67% of all new AIDS cases.
Makes sense why they STILL shouldn’t donate blood.

“About 50,000 people become newly infected each year in the United States.”

More than 14,000 people with AIDS in the United States die each year.”

“More than 650,000 people with AIDS in the United States have died” since the epidemic started in the early 1980s.

“gay men are unable to open a vein if they’ve had sexual intercourse in the past 12 months.”

12 months? How do they figure? They are truly sick if they believe they should even be allowed to bleed into the sewers.

I’m accused of being homophobic, because I don’t want a blood transfusion from somebody practicing sexual behavior which is high risk to AIDS.

I’m still viewed as a sexist by some, because I don’t accept men should be allowed to become mothers.

Go Figure.

Considering 64% of all HIV/AIDS cases and 70% of all STDs are among the <3% of the population (men who have sex with men), we should stop those men from ever donating blood.

Even common sense and science must bow down and worship at the altar of homosexuality.

Why does 3% of the population have to continually change life for the other 97%.

We get it that you folks like same gender sex.

Fine.

Just shut up about it already.

We’ve had 40 years of your non-stop propaganda.

And no, you cannot have our children or grandchildren.

It is 2016 and those who have had hepatitis still can’t donate blood.

It is 2016 and those who were born in Europe in the mid-1980s when Chernobyl happened and there was “mad cow disease” still can’t donate blood.

Bottom line for these and HIV — the dangerous ‘germs/whatever’ are still active in one’s body.

I had HepA when I was a child and lived in Germany in the 80s and my oldest daughter was born there.

All blood donations go through the crooked RC now. Takes a month to clear. DIL was bleeding out after surgeon nicked a vein, she is a A- not easy to obtain in small communities, no time to bank blood from the time they found the walnut size stage 4 tumor until surgery, they refused to use her brother as a direct donor, ‘we don’t do that any more’.

Sloppy surgeon who was T’d off because she didn’t want a radical mastectomy, used staples to close the incision, but when he had to fix the vein nick he used sutures. Made more scaring than was needed. They were going to send her home the same day just hrs after surgery, when she went white as a sheet we knew something was wrong. Had to force them to keep her over night after the second surgery.

Still ended up in the ER and hospital the next day as she was still bleeding out. Needed a transfusion, that was not available. Just got iron pills instead. IDIOTS.
