Federal Judge: U.S. Constitution Is Outdated, Judges Should Stop Studying It

According to 7th Circuit Judge Richard Posner in a post published to Slate, U.S. judges should stop studying the Constitution.

“I see absolutely no value to a judge of spending decades, years, months, weeks, day, hours, minutes, or seconds studying the Constitution, the history of its enactment, its amendments, and its implementation,” Posner argued.

“Eighteenth-century guys, however smart, could not foresee the culture, technology, etc., of the 21st century,” he continued. “Which means that the original Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the post–Civil War amendments (including the 14th), do not speak to today.”

IS the GOP going to IMPEACH this follow? That is just a rhetorical question - Congress probably agrees with him.

Laws are definitely outdated.

Traitors would have been hung in public squares. Now they occupy every orifice of government.

And we let it happen. Oh well.

Judges have been following his advice all along, he didn’t need to verbalize it.

Impeach for violation of oath of office.

The Constitution can and has been amended many times. It speaks to today just fine and will continue to do so.

Oh yes. Must offer up the Constitution on the altar of globalism, wealth distribution, unfettered immigration illegal and otherwise, etc.

He took an oath to uphold that “outdated” Constitution.

Don’t like it? Go to the EU...what’s left of it.

He is a REAGAN appointee.

Judge Richard Posner, a conservative on the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago,
has long been one of the nation's most respected and admired legal thinkers on the right. But in an interview with NPR, he expressed exasperation at the modern Republican Party, and confessed that he has become "less conservative" as a result.

Posner expressed admiration for President Ronald Reagan and the economist Milton Friedman, two pillars of conservatism. But over the past 10 years, Posner said, "there's been a real deterioration in conservative thinking. And that has to lead people to re-examine and modify their thinking."

"I've become less conservative since the Republican Party started becoming goofy," he said.
