Antivaccine activists gleefully attack and dox a 12-year-old boy who made a pro-vaccine video

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about the antivaccine movement, it’s that its members dislike being criticized. Oh, hell, let’s be honest. The really, really hate criticism and react very, very badly to it. Whereas you or I or other skeptics might react to criticism by trying to address it using facts, science, and reason, the first reaction of many antivaccine loons is to attack, attack, attack.

That makes no sense. Guns and cars have a use. Not vaccinating your kids does not. I can operate a vehicle or use a gun without hurting anyone, but if there are large numbers of un-vaccinated people, they present a threat to the health of others.

> It’s the anti-vax people who are like the global warming nuts. The science is there and it’s settled.

Self-awareness isn't your strong point, I take it.

Both pro-vaccers and anti-vaccers are nuts...

the best strategy is not to get the flu shot all the damned time (they hardly ever pick the right strain of flu to vaccinate against) , but only get vaccines for yourself and your children for ONLY the deadly horrible stuff and make sure to space them out reasonably.

I don’t trust the vaccine makers who put in substances that act as accelerators so they can skimp on the weakened/dead virus particles.

And I don’t trust our government to keep out illegals that carry all sorts of diseases we used to have stamped out in this country.

Moderation....

“This is why there are a great many skeptics, because of pro-vax arguments like this.”

At some point one gets tired of explaining hundreds of years of science to Luddites, and the most generous thing one can say is...well, something ungenerous and rude.

Indeed. Facts don’t enter into it. They are convinced of their beliefs and nothing will change their minds. Unless, perhaps, they might be like some of the parents who lost children to these diseases, like the author Roald Dahl.

http://news.sky.com/story/1419786/roald-dahl-wrote-of-daughters-measles-death

Pleads for people to vaccinate their children.

Resorting to insults, true to form for anti-vax believers.

Anti vax is the modern jihad. Moms work and don’t attend to their family. So they look for poisons everywhere to show how “involved” they are. Alar apples, the autism scam, vaccinations, Michelle Obama lunches.

All part of the same superstitious stupidity.

There is no reason to distrust vaccine makers. Do you really think they are out to harm children? We come into contact with all sorts of things every day - mercury, lead, arsenic - there is nothing 100% pure on earth.

Complete Shiite! So families who are concerned about the safety and efficacy of government coerced vaccinations are brow shirts and NAZIs? Families that want freedom of choice and conscience concerning vaccinations are Sanders Socialists? How about you do some research on John Holdren, Obama’s Science Czar. Then come back and have an informed argument.

> Maybe you can explain why polio and most diseases we all had in the old days went away?

Red herring fallacy.

> And why they all came back when the nutty anti-vaxers started their luddite jihad?

Begging the question fallacy.

This is quite hilarious. I bet if this conversation continues, there will literally be every fallacy in the book come out, in preference to actually addressing the concerns of skeptics.

Exactly. And many forget Hillary succeeded in nationalizing the vaccination industry. Since then there have been a parade of the wrong flu shot, shortages, etc.

Pro-vaccers are often tyrants who want to force people to do what they don’t want to do.

Spot on.

YOu want to take the risk with you kids - go for it - you have NO RIGHT to force others to -

It aggravates me how much people trust the vaccine big pharmacy establishment (who also are cronies with the CDC and other government health orgs) , because, hey they are scientists.....

a few years ago I got a tetanus booster that made me sick for damned near a month and confirmed it with the my doctor that IS WAS AN ADVERSE REACTION to the VACCINE.

And then they were giving me the tetanus vaccine they wanted to jab me with ANOTHER VACCINE, but I told them I didn’t know for sure if I had that shot or not and I declined. I am damned glad i declined, imagine if I had 2x bad reactions to vaccines at once!!!!

IT COULD HAVE DAMNED NEAR KILLED ME...

Vaccines have been around a lot longer than Obama or his science czar. If you would like to take your un-vaccinated family to an island and keep them from hurting others, then I totally agree with your decision to make that choice.

You guys are serious global warmers. Just substitute “climate denier” for “anti-vax” in these assertions and it’s plain as day.

Swing and a miss. Answer the question moron. Why did polio and other deadly diseases vanish in America? And why did it and others recently come resurging back?

Vaccinations eradicated it. Unvaccinated people brought it back.

you just proved my point.

No he didn't, I'm just glad you and your anti-vax compadre's weren't around in the 1950's when the polio vaccines were being handed out........

There is not one peer reviewed study that determines that vaccines are harmful while in fact, history has proven the opposite....

How many vaccines have been handed out over the past 50 years both here in the US and in third world countries around this planet? Billions?

If the vaccine Nazis here were correct, the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program would never have to make a payout. Yet it does, routinely.

I wonder what their real angle is. Are they being paid to promote vaccines or otherwise financially conflicted in this matter? I presume they must be, because honest people don’t act that way.

And both of your “logic” points are utterly incorrect examples.

I have debated anti- vax people on several websites and found them frequently vicious. It is a religion to many of them. Logical points are dismissed in favor of junk science and emotion.

Fixed it doe ya.

Peo0ple who don't want to play Russian roulette with their kids aren't demanding that you follow suit - whereas, the 'vaxers" want to take the choice away from them.

There's way to much credible evidence of harm to demand the choice be taken away from parents.

What happened to a person's right to choose?
