China's secret stealth sub surfaces: First images released of 'Shang' nuclear submarine

China’s new nuclear attack submarine is among the military’s most secretive platforms – and the world has just been given its first glimpse.

The Chinese navy has released a rare photo of the Type 093B ‘Shang’ submarine, which can launch missiles vertically at ships and other targets overhead.

This model improves upon the capabilities of earlier nuclear attack submarines, and is expected to be quieter and faster.

According to the Popular Science blog Eastern Arsenal, this reveal marks an extremely rare event.

It’s thought that there were three Type 093B SSNs launched last year.

These were preceded by two Type 093 SSNs, which were launched 15 years ago.

Though they were intended to be stealthy, the Type 093s were equipped with noisy reactors and propulsion systems, the blog explains, and this was only worsened as they climbed to higher speeds.

Yep. Hit the Chinese made nail on the head.

Big deal! A nuclear sub is so yesterday. A state of the art military today is one that allows cross dressers to serve openly, allows same sex marriage, provides for sex change surgery, pays soldiers overtime when they work more than 40 hours, waters down standards so women can pass the tests, doesn’t allow soldiers to carry weapons on base, provides outreach to the enemy (muslims), castigates Christian chaplains, drop leaflets to the enemy so they won’t get hurt.. Have I missed anything? The retrograde Chinese don’t stand a chance against a progressive force like ours.

They'll be busy breaking shit and killing people, while we'll be taking a more nuanced approach.

>>Lumber Liquidators interior.<<

Saw this post and just had to comment.

Purchased 1200 sq ft. of solid wood birch, hand scraped, 3/4” x 5” flooring planks to install in our newly built custom home a few years back.

I'm an American made first kinda guy...always support American jobs/American workers. With that said, after our purchase from Lumber Liquidators, I found out this flooring was Chinaman manufactured.

This birch flooring is crap! After only a few years, it's breaking down. If I'd known it was manufactured by China, I'd never had purchased it.

Lumber Liquidators will never see me darken their doors ever again.

Juss sayin

Ouch!

They’re in trouble for high levels of formaldehyde too.

This sub class is an improvement for the Chinese.

Roughly equivalent to the VLS equipped Los Angeles class...which is three generations old in US service.

Not close to the Sea a Wolf or the Virginias, or the UKs Astute class.

The Chinese may have 3 or 4 of this new glass.

We still have well over 20 advanced LA class, three Sea Wolves, and now a dozen Virginias...and building a lot more.

You bought from them when you could have gone to place where they sell natural hardwood flooring from the USA?

Hey!

That's who we are, according to the First Moron in the White Mosque and his flying monkeys... and his mentally deficient electorate.

It's what happens when the only qualification for a citizen entitled to vote is a pulse.

The original Constitution and its 17 year gestation period actually had citizen obligations as well as rights; as discussed at length in The Federalist Papers.

Lumber Liquidators will never see me darken their doors ever again.

I bought some stuff from them about 5 years ago. Mostly crap. Bundles of red oak flooring strips. Promised it was high quality. Lots of knots, cracks, short useless strips, bad cuts. I was able to use about 65 percent of it. Promised myself to never buy from them again. Folks, go elsewhere for your lumber.

That link is pretty much useless, for residential customers.
Not too many industrial or stadium owners at Free Republic.

Also, their link at that site to find dealers worldwide does not work.

Are you suggesting that most end users are too stupid to both know the definition of "liquidators" and the obvious implications of sale exclusively of material that requires "liquidation?"

...and how much of it is built on technology stolen when the West dropped its guard and started thinking of the ChiComs as a responsible world trading partner?

i wouldn’t trust a chinese engineer as far as i could throw him. it was insane to me that so many tech companies starting hiring them 20 or so years ago after we had clear evidence (Tianamen Square) that the ChiComs were the same as they’d always been.

they’ve never been held accountable for their war crimes against US soldiers during the Korean conflict. they are still our enemy.

When Capt. Kirk of the USSN Enterprise saw pictures of the new Red Chinese submarine, he yelled “SHANGGGGG”!

They promised me that 85 to 90 percent of it was high quality, free of defects. They lied. I managed to recover 65 percent of it for use, and that was after I fixed some of it with my router. The sales agents lied, and the labeling on the bundles were false.

Is that grunge and barnacles below the launch tubes?

I'm guessing no. My guess is these are vents to flood the torpedo tubes before firing. Difficult to make out the details though.

Looks like they need to work on their paint.

High speeds routinely wash off paint at the waterline. Especially at the bow.

Check out the bow of the USS Scranton. wikimedia.org
