Trump shifts immigration plan: No 'mass deportations'
The Hill ^ | June 25, 2016 | Jessie Hellmann

Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump appeared to soften his tone on immigration Saturday, saying he wouldn't issue mass deportations if president.

"President Obama has mass deported vast numbers of people — the most ever, and it's never reported. I think people are going to find that I have not only the best policies, but I will have the biggest heart of anybody," Trump said in an interview with Bloomberg Politics Saturday.

Pressed on whether he would issue mass deportations as he has called for in the past, Trump said: "No, I would not call it mass deportations."

"We are going to get rid of a lot of bad dudes who are here. That I can tell you," Trump said.

Throughout his campaign, Trump has promised to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexican border and deport all 11 million people living in the country illegally.

In November, shortly after he launched his presidential campaign, Trump said he would build a "deportation force" to ship those in the country illegally back to their home countries.

"We're going to do it in a very humane fashion. Believe me. I have a bigger heart than you do. We're going to do it in a very human fashion," he said.

Oh I will vote for him. If he doesn’t get rid of all the illegals , in 4-8 years we will have another RAT to undo all the work Trump will have done, and the RATS will have a permanent majority. All part of Barry’s plan.

except the huge number of them that are independently working for cash - house cleaners, lawn care etc that are not working for a citizen owned biz. Many illegals have their own biz, though it’s likely not registered with city or such.

I think there will be deportations as much as logistically possible, but we are in general season now and he is toning it down.

It’s been that way since Reagan left office.....Clinton, Bush, Obama have ALL allowed a ridiculous number of illegals too stay in this country....

The cost? Start with 9/11 and work forward

Stop the incentives.

While I don’t trust much from publications like ‘The Hill’ if Trump goes wobbly on immigration he will lose a lot of support.

When construction of the wall starts, announce that all persons residing illegally in the US have one or maybe two years to leave or face arrest and prosecution. At the same time enforce all existing immigration laws, including E-verify, and prosecute anyone hiring illegals, and cut off all public assistance to illegals, and defund Sanctuary Cities. Shut off money transfers from the US to Mexico. At the same time start vigorously deporting all criminal aliens. I think that would rid the country of several million illegals, but probably not all of them. The rest could be dealt with as they turn-up.

Been at this long, long time.

If Trump is trying to woo Hispanic vote by ratcheting back on getting rid of illegals, he is just playing into the GOPe and Dems playbook.

He has dropped in polls because he never educates the legal Mexican community and their sympathetic friends about the back story beind Judge Curiel about which he severely gaffed.

Those persons described above are super naive about the La Raza ambitions and their propaganda campaign to achieve it.They do not like it when they learn about it, but until they do learn, MECHA and La Raza and Chicanos Por la Causa are just fraternal groups to many.

If Trump keeps going like this, he will gain a few Hispanics and lose a lot of the support of abused legal Americans who have pinned their hopes on him.

Look at 2012.

We can be compassionate, yet still deport or cause self deportation. We can have liberal, but traceable visitaion visas and medical visas with serious sanctions for those who abuse. We can defer hard cases deportation for a window of time and have help for them to relocate.

But do not fall for the trap set by those recommending what appears to be a softening of his original position on illegal entrants.

They are wrong.

There’s nothing unconstitutional about a Muslim ban.

“No religious test” refers to public office, not to non-citizens crossing the border.

Congress should find that Islam is not a religion.

You’re all right!

Self deportation is a lot cheaper and no lawyers or incarceration, buses, etc. They just make like a tree and leave.

It doesn’t matter whether Congress decides that Islam is not a religion, because it’s a religion PLUS legal system and political ideology of world domination and conquest. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows it. We just have to get rid of the commies/globalists and mohammedans in government and everything will shake out just fine.

Indeed. That was a key plank in his platform that drew people to him. Changing his views by moderating may be a drawing card for some establishment RINOs to warm up to his candidacy, but overall, I think it will only hurt him with his base. Some of the #NeverTrump folks who claim he isn’t conservative will just say, “I told you so.” The liberals will hate him regardless.

As far as immigration, I am a little confused.

That’s the point. This is all pot stirring to depress the conservative vote for Trump. It’s all semantic word games.

Basically, anything at all from MSM sources is biased, truncated, cherry picked, twisted, taken out of context, made up out of whole cloth, re-worded, has misleading/false headlines, mixes opinion and commentary in with partial quotes, etcetc.

It’s not even worth reading or listening to other than in the context of knowing what they’re up to.

To know what Trump says, best to hear his whole interview, speeches, and what he posts on his site.

In case anyone wants, here’s the site that has all speeches, rallies and interview:

“But, I’ll give the man a chance. I’m of the thought that if our laws were actually enforced the way they should be, there’s be no reason for mass deportations because: there would be very little, if any work for them, they wouldn’t get any benefits, they wouldn’t get any citizenship.

Basically, there’d be no reason for them to come here. All the goodies will be taken away.”

Just checked Trump’s own positions from his website:

~Triple the number of ICE officers
~Nationwide e-verify. This simple measure will protect jobs for unemployed Americans.
~Mandatory return of all criminal aliens.
~Detention—not catch-and-release. Illegal aliens apprehended crossing the border must be detained until they are sent home, no more catch-and-release.
~Defund sanctuary cities.
~Enhanced penalties for overstaying a visa.
~Cooperate with local gang task forces. ICE officers should accompany local police departments conducting raids of violent street gangs like MS-13 and the 18th street gang, which have terrorized the country. All illegal aliens in gangs should be apprehended and deported.
~End birthright citizenship.

These things are explained in greater detail on his website:
