Today has been a day of bitterness, resentment and betrayal for British millennials like me. Overnight, my generation has lost the right to call ourselves Europeans, as well as the right to live, love and work in the 27 other countries of the European Union. Among the many divisions the referendum has revealed in the U.K., the chasm between generations is becoming the most pronounced. While the Leave campaign achieved a two-point victory in the referendum, 75 percent of voters between 18 and 24 wanted to remain.
For all intents and purposes, the referendum result is just the latest in a series of attacks on my generation’s future. First came the financial crisis, caused by poor decision-making on the part of baby boomers across the world. Soon after came austerity measures that disproportionately affected young people in favor of protecting British pensions. Now we are being forced from the European Union — against the wishes of the vast majority of young people — in an attack from a generation that will live to see very little of its consequences.

The last time Britain had a referendum on its E.U. membership, back in 1973, the parents of my generation weren’t even old enough to vote. Being European has always been a given for us; most people my age had never questioned or doubted the future of U.K.-E.U. relations until this referendum campaign began. And why would we? Most of us recognize that we have more in common with young people in Spain or the Netherlands than we do with the older folks who share our British nationality.

Like 18-24 year olds like have so much like accumulated knowledge and experience, and like have been uniquely challenged in very harsh circumstances unlike stupid old people who don’t even like have smartphones or something

Elderly folks see how the deal has ultimately gutted your opportunities. They’ve the experience to have seen it unfold. Unfortunately young fools listen to a highly paid bureaucrat whose check depends on the scam continuing.

A “two point” victory. If a liberal won by two points, he’d call it a massive landslide and national mandate.
Wait ‘til she finds out she’ll have to learn Spanish to communicate, and the government doesn’t supply personal translators.

This sentiment has been overwhelmingly reflected elsewhere from other British millennials. More proof that they live in an echo chamber (either in real life or on their social media circle).
We come to a very dangerous conclusion if we extrapolate that view point.

Leaving EU doesn’t mean UK is not part of Europe. And what gives this young fragile flower idea that she couldn’t live or work in other European countries? Or if UK remains in EU, then she thinks she gets a free ride living and/or working in EU countries.
I absolutely DESPISE Millennials, so this article pleases me no end.
Stupid little twit and her friends should just declare themselves to be refugees and immigrate to some EU country, since they like being ruled by old, faceless, un-elected people in Brussels. .....What a brainless idiot!

There’s a reason the UK is referred to as the British Isles. It’s not connected to the European Continent!
I don’t see where it is necessary for Brits to be banned from the EU and the converse. Some type of treaty will be worked out.
Dipwad, you’re still a European in England, there were continents before there was the EU.
And you’re still in the EU for now. It takes time to get out, it’s like quicksand.

Young people are being programmed to resent older people so they’ll euthanize them rather than deal with their healthcare costs later...
This intergenerational warfare is here in the US as well; the Dems have exploited it well. Many young people don’t understand how much better things were 25 years ago...
