Britons 'took their country back' in Brexit vote: Trump
Yahoo Finance ^ | June 24,2016

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said that Britons had taken back control of their country on Friday, after they voted to leave the European Union (EU) in a referendum.

Trump arrived in Scotland -- whose citizens took part in the referendum -- on Friday morning for the opening of his Trump Turnberry luxury golfing resort.

In a wide ranging press conference the tycoon said that, in the wake of the referendum, the break-up of the EU looked like it was "on its way, and we'll see what happens."

Trump also commented on President Barack Obama's warning in April that the U.K. would find itself at the back of the queue in trade talks if it left the EU.

"President Obama did say, I guess, that they should move to the back of the line," he said.

"That wouldn't happen with me: the UK has been such a great ally for so long, they'll always be at the front of the line, they've been amazing allies in good times and in bad times."

On Thursday, the U.K. voted to leave the European Union by 51.9 percent to 48.1 percent in one of the most significant referendums in generations. The result stunned global financial markets, which had priced in a victory for the "remain" vote.

In a Facebook statement released on Friday morning, Trump said that the British people had "exercised the sacred right of all free peoples."

"A Trump Administration pledges to strengthen our ties with a free and independent Britain, deepening our bonds in commerce, culture and mutual defense," the statement went on to add. "The whole world is more peaceful and stable when our two countries – and our two peoples – are united together, as they will be under a Trump Administration."

DOW futures down 500, gold is up but not 30%. Bigger news is the rush to U.S. treasuries and the corresponding drop in yield.

Politically he wanted the remain to win but that doesn’t mean he invested that way.

Good point. He has a reputation of investing against currencies. The Pound has lost a lot of value in the past day.

really only since WWII

I’m a tremendous supporter of the US-UK alliance, but people are myopic about history (or simply don’t know it). The US and UK were never ‘allies’ until late in WWI, and even then it was an awkward and uneasy alliance, which reverted back to US neutrality in the 1920s and 30s. Only with Pearl Harbor and the US entrance into WWII did the warm close alliance that we all assume today really begin to develop.

Throughout the 19th century the US and Brits were fairly unfriendly competitors, and the Brits considered supporting the Confederacy in our Civil War. Ceertainly the USA never supported any of their wars of empire etc. We just ignored them when we weren’t competing on trade etc.

It is good bet that by the time Scotland get to vote on joining the EU, that the EU will no longer exist.

But all the Globalist run media propaganda groups ran a sea of push polls showing Remain was ahead !,

Reuters declared it to be fact .
Murdoch Left wing media too
The Daily Mail blasted the same talking points and push polls .

The polls were way off as usual but posters here lecture us about how the polls are so accurate and to shut and believe the misinformation talking points .

Fir three days !I was lectured her by the Berlin Pro Globalist - Uniparty astroturfer that I was spreading conspiracy theories and crazy for mocking and challenging these polls and their timing !

Funny how they are disappear when the CROW is ready to be served !

Globalization will work in about ten thousand years.....our world is not in the right place now.

(Soros) ... Oh darn, well then which currency was he long if he was short the pound. Did he buy long puts on Brit stocks prior to the vote. Maybe he just shorted naked calls. How much money do think he made on the exit vote — maybe he can get some good plastic surgery with it, like a face transplant.
