An Independent Scotland? Please, God, Let it Happen!

In polite society, the correct opinion to hold about Scottish independence is that the Union must stay together. But Ive been wondering: might not England thrive, freed from the yoke of those whining, kilted leeches? The more you think about it, the more persuasive the argument seems to be.
Ive been invited to debate this question whether or not we long-suffering Sassenachs would be better off without our sponging Caledonian neighbours in early September, at a debate held by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
How might I begin? Well, there are of course the immediate political consequences. A break-up of the Union would be indelible on David Camerons record, and absolutely devastating to his reputation and legacy. Never mind anything else the Tories have achieved in government: Cameron would go down in history as the PM who lost Scotland.
But, as joyful as the prospect of Daves humiliation will be to some Breitbart London readers, there are even more spectacular potential effects. Not only will the West Lothian Question be settled in the only satisfactory manner possible, but the structural bias in our constituency boundaries that favours the Labour Party will be blown apart.

If the recent Scottish Independence vote had allowed all of the UK to vote, they would be off on their own by now...:^)

As a one quarter Scot heritage I don't want it to happen.
My ancient Cheshire, Lancashire, and Oxfordshire genes are almost ready to say let them go.

Let's keep some things in perspective:
- The conservatives in the UK are to the left of the US Democratic party -- they support gaymarriage, larger governments than we in the US would like, etc. etc.
- Labour are further left yes, but that doesn't make the "Conservatives" more like us, except in comparison -- otherwise we would disagree with much of what they say
- Scotland saw the EU as a way to break the dominance of England - hence the dismay
- England was and is globlist -- as befits a trading, mercantile state
Will England be better for Scotland going away? Slightly yes. They will lose the advantage of having the entire island for themselves. Also, since the Scots would join the Schengen, then there would need to be border controls between the two nations. But England may be slightly better off economically

An independent Scotland attached to the EU would end up just like Greece. What does Scotland produce? They are just net recipients under the EU of the fruits of the labor of the productive.
For the life of me, I can't figure out why Germany doesn't want out. They are by far the strongest economic engine in Europe and therefore are the primary contributors to the various failing socialist member states.

Merkel and her co-conspirators would never allow the people to vote on the EU, especially after Cologne and the Afd's successes.

An independent Scotland would fall somewhere between Venezuela and Cuba on the left-right continuum. It would be a Socialist hellhole. The first thing they’d do would be to expropriate Trump’s golf course.

Northern Ireland is part of UK isnt it?It is; but when you say merely "Ireland", general usage understands that to mean the Republic of Ireland, the large southern part that fought a bloody revolution to become a separate nation from the UK. When referring to the northern part of the island that belongs to the UK, general usage is to say "Northern Ireland."
Sort of like the way we never just say "Dakota" or "Carolina".

from 2014. Scotland voted 62 percent to Remain, only London was higher (in this regional breakdown I'm looking at, on the Telegraph site) at 70; N Ireland over 55 percent Remain; Wales voted to Leave, as did many of the current and former working class industrial "Satanic Mills" areas. Thanks Eurotwit.
