Yorkshire...isn’t that fairly close to where the, ahem, “Asian” men were running prostitution rings made up of “at risk” teenage girls? I can see how the news of that coming out might affect attitudes.

As a traveller to to the UK, I love it

You win some and lose some.

A lower pound would arguably be better for most people...

I did not avoid the point. I said representative democracies are in effect the best you can do.

You are proposing some sort of oligarchy or multinational socialism, which is just a new flavor of national socialism.

Trump will be in Scotland, which voted to stay with the EU. So, scotland will now likely move to separate from the UK, so it can stay with the EU.

yes, I hope that Trump finds an early opportunity to assure the UK public that he will in fact work closely with the UK (despite his little fracas with Cameron), and that the USA under a Trump presidency will be a great friend, ally, and trading partner for the UK. Screw Obama!!

Awesome news! I fell asleep watching the returns coming in on FBN, and I woke up to hear the result. The newscasters and commentators are hysterical though. You’d think the sky was falling. The nerve of the British people to rebel against their overseers!

Go, Brittania!!!!

The UK is almost certainly going to break up. Congratulations to them all. Now work to build an economy based on the people not the markets.

Actually, I am proposing NOTHING in the way of impediments to trade among people. NON-Government. Not intervention.

Representative Democracies are great for many things. Love them for law, contracts, fire and police, army, currencies, etc.

But even then, keeping the governmental portion of them as far away from people’s freedom to transact as they wish is wise. No bureaucrat or lawmaker can have the perfect knowledge of the needs of the market or the downstream effects of their actions. See Hayek.

Socialism (National or otherwise) is the intervention of the government to direct the resources of the country, a la a tariff to limit competition for politically favored industries that greased bureaucrats’ palms.

If Trump is in England tomorrow that is NO coincidence (recalling what FDR said about coincidences in politics).

It will be interesting to watch. Maybe all he has to do is fly in and then see who shows up to request to meet with him. If nobody fine and dandy, just take a walk to Hyde Park and the Speaker’s Corner (or wherever). If someone, then it will show (1) how serious Trump should be taken in the USA and (2) who Trump’s potential political allies are in the UK to his prospective administration.

I know he pushed for remain, but did he invest that way?
~~~~~~~~~~~
He didn’t just push; he threatened.
Good question: Did he invest that way?
$64,000 question:
Would the Brexit side have won if Donald Trump was not on the world stage and if he were not the GOP presumptive nominee?
that’s your problem. no intervention means flooding with shoddy goods made by child labor in poor working conditions.
our tariffs are put in place by representative democracy that is our heritage. they are strength, not weakness. so get a clue.
(and btw, you are not my uncle.)
I don’t know. But it would seem logical. Labour and the Dems are of s similar mindset. Brexit at last look was winning by 1.1 million. Give the devil his due .. if its not close they can’t cheat... - Hugh Hewitt.
