Dem: 'The Second Amendment needs some changing'

Rep. Mike Doyle, D-Pa., called for a revision of the Second Amendment during Wednesday's "sit-in" on the House floor, which has shut down the House while Democrats demand a vote on gun control legislation.

"The Second Amendment needs some changing, because Americans don't agree with it and we've had it," Doyle shouted on the House floor. "We're not going to watch any more people in this country get slaughtered and do nothing."

House Democrats are occupying the well of the floor in order to demand a vote on gun control legislation, such as a ban on weapons sales to people on the terror watch list.

They've vowed not to leave until House Republicans grant a vote on that bill, making the "sit-in" a rough approximation of a Senate filibuster. They were joined briefly on the House floor by Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Murphy, who staged a talking filibuster for the same purpose last week.

Well Mr. Doyle, you’ve got Article V available to you as the ONLY valid way to amend the Constitution. Have at it and good luck.

The Constitution has it’s own provision for amendment. If the good representative wants to change the 2nd Amendment, he needs to start the process. Oh, Rep. Doyle might want to know that throwing an infantile tantrum on the floor of the House is not part of the amendment process.

Maybe off topic, given the horrors of Orlando.

But......

I want to make the point, that Orlando was the biggest terrorist attack in America since Sept. 11th. And yet the media have focused almost exclusively on gun control in their reporting. The fact that this was a terrorist attack has been lost in the media reporting. And that’s a damn shame in my opinion.

The liberals have revived the gun control debate, and are only talking about guns, not about what more can we do to fight terrorism!!!! I am so frustrated about that.

Occupy Wall Street can just waltz in and take over the House, and the House leadership allows this? Or does House leadership apply the rules selectively? Rhetorical question.

I'd get rid of the militia clause, not because there is anything wrong with it, but because opponents of the RKBA have been twisting that into the opposite of what it stands for, for 80 years.

“The Second Amendment needs some changing, because Americans don’t agree with it...”

The BIG LIE.

Real (most) Americans agree with it. Some un-Americans and refugee insurgents don’t.

I want all these asses fully and deeply investigated.

Chain the doors shut. Flood with nerve gas. Pest control, not gun control.

If the House Republicans had any guts, they’d just let them sit there, walk out, lock the doors and let ‘em sweat...

I wish they’d do something about the crack problem. They haven’t even done the step 1 of making a 5-day waiting period before anyone can purchase crack cocaine. After that, then we can get to that second step of making crack cocaine illegal to buy altogether. THAT will get people to stop using that horrific drug!! /s

And, once again, the Rats have changed the debate away from the real cause - Muslim terrorism. Where are the GOPe talking heads saying that the Rats want to disarm the populace while importing ever more killers, rapists and outright ISIS terrorists? (rhetorical question)

They need to take that confusing (to leftists) part about the militia out and just leave it: "The Right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." Period. Full stop. nothing more necessary.

First thing that entered my mind.

More traitorous talking points from the House Democrats "Damn the 2nd Amendment sleepover."

I cannot disagree more. A Constitutional Amendment is the only way for the Democrats to do what they want and they should forge ahead, just like they did with the Equal Rights Amendment. The problem is that once the amendment fails (it will), the judges will implement it by fiat. Changing the Constitution is quite Constitutional and cannot be treason.

I agree with the jerk. The Second Amendment should be altered so it simply reads:

“The right of the People to keep and to bear arms shall not be infringed.”
