POLK COUNTY, TN (WRCB) - A campaign sign in Polk County is stirring up a lot of controversy.
The sign, located off Highway 411 near Benton, says "Make America White Again" and was put there by Rick Tyler, an independent candidate in the race for Tennessee's 3rd congressional district seat currently held by Chuck Fleischmann.
Tyler told Channel 3, he has no hatred in his heart for "people of color." He says the sign's message is that America should go back to a "1960s, Ozzie and Harriet, Leave it to Beaver time when there were no break-ins; no violent crime; no mass immigration."

I have relatives in Bradley County, just south of Polk. They said things are better now, but in the past minorities avoided the county after dark.

In the 50s and 40s Negroes were migrating in large numbers from the then impoverished rural south to the jobs of the booming industrial north. They had in effect become the new immigrant wave and were progressing along the path of previous Irish and Italian, etc., waves and were firmly on the road to prosperity when along came LBJ and the War on Poverty. That put a ceiling on what could be accomplished by the new immigrant class and the development of the WOP pushed that ceiling ever lower to create the totally dependent Democrat vote plantation. It essentially engineered asocial reverse migration of the new immigrants back to the hopelessness whence they emigrated. In their new slave quarters they don’t have to work under the lash for their food, they just have to vote or provide their votes for their masters to use.

Saying that the 50s were good is textbook begging the question. I don’t imagine you’re any kind of racist or that you wish for a return to Jim Crow. I don’t know the first thing about you and I presume that you’re like most people in that you wouldn’t welcome such a thing. But a blanket statement like “The 50s were good” is very dependent on experience. Many black people in many parts of this country lived in abject fear for their lives for no other reason than being black. That’s just a fact.
In the history of being “white” Irish were initially excluded. Jews were excluded too. Melungeon is an interesting classification the seems to bounce around. Ultimately “white” seems to be cultural and ideals. As in “acting white”. Hispanic is another variable one.
“Personal responsibility”? “pull their own weight”?

Don’t fall for the “white” vs “black” argument. It plays into the liberals hands and paints folks into the easily defined corners that liberals love.
Here is my take on this, redirect to “successful behavior” and “unsuccessful behavior”
Nobody can deny that “behavior” is a choice, so you can choose behavior that will make you successful, perseverance, respect, courtesy, accountability, responsibility, attention to detail; or you can choose behavior that will make you unsuccessful, resentment, jealousy, envy, lazy, disdain for education, blaming others for your own bad choices, etc.
The proof is that anybody that has “chosen” to embrace successful behavior has bettered their circumstances, case in point, recent immigrants who have recently arrived to “racist” America and have been successful beyond their wildest dreams. These immigrants have been Caucasian, Asian, Hispanic, and yes, even African.
There is not big secret to becoming successful in this country, there is no secret formula, the recipe is right there in the open for anyone who wants to use it. And it works every time it has been used, regardless of the person’s race or gender.
So when you hear the “black” vs “white” argument, redirect to; “Why do the unsuccessful continue to make choices that keep them unsuccessful?” “And why is it that anyone who chooses to engage in successful behavior is branded as “acting white”? I submit that they are “acting successfully”.

I grew up in a violent alcoholic household and I loved Leave it to Beaver.
One time I even spend an afternoon with Tony Dow.
In six or eight hours, Leave it to Beaver was not mentioned, and it was evident he did not want to be asked about.
