Father Of Orlando Victim: I Wish Someone Else In That Club Had A Gun
The Federalist ^ | 20 June 2016 | Bre Payton

Posted on 06/21/2016 7:49:03 AM PDT by ManHunter

A father of one of the Orlando victims penned a letter expressing the wish that his son had been armed at the gay nightclub where 49 people were killed and another 53 were injured last week.

In a letter published by The Detroit News, Mark Bando decried gun control policies for disarming people like his son, Christopher Andrew Leinonen, who was shot and killed by a terrorist last week at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando.

“The killer was armed and his helpless victims were not,” Bando wrote. “Yet the anti gun politicians still want to disarm the populace, enabling these scenarios. It is likely such attacks will continue, until the victims start shooting back. That’s the lesson I take from this, for what it’s worth. When the shooting started Saturday night, I’ll bet there wasn’t a person in the club who wouldn’t have traded everything he owned in the world, for a loaded gun.”

“If a person is planning to drink, they DO NOT carry (at least in public). I’m fairly certain most state laws say the same.”

That’s the way the law is here in South Carolina.

It’s too bad Florida rejected a bill for open carry. A couple of security guys with AR-15s slung over their shoulders would have kept the peace in that night club.

That might slow their business down for a while but patrons would get used to it and realize the benefit of it. As long as they hired professionals there would be no problems.

Oregon allows guns in bars. We don’t have any more shootouts in bars than other states.

” The Law would be the same FOR ALL PERSONS, Including Special Government Agents.”

And MOST IMPORTANTLY our members of Congress!

I’m hoping he dies during Hitlary’s campaign! Hillary too!

Enacting "gun free zones" does two things.

First, they prevent law abiding victims from shooting back, ensuring higher body counts.

Second, they create magnet zones for criminals and terrorists. There is a reason that nearly all mass shootings occur in "gun free zones" and never at gun shows, gun stores or shooting ranges.

“Not predicting or anything, but, would not be shocked at all, if the news came out soon that Bill had passed away. Would not be shocked at all.”

Shocked ? No, joyful! I’d open a good bottle of wine and celebrate his passing!

Mr. Brando, "It is likely such attacks will continue, until the victims start shooting back."

Thank you Sir, for your commonsense.

I'm just a former aviation swabbie with no combat experience, but knowing a couple SEALS and Marines and some experience at the shooting range, I will say this:

Bill Clinton continues to be an absolute ass when he says, "Do you know how dark in was inside there?" No, it's NOT dark. Actually, nightclubs have numerous lighting systems and I've never been to one that I couldn't see across the room. NEVER. I even owned 24% of a nightclub in Reno called American Bandstand.

Secondly, he has know idea about muzzle flash. Yes, the monster did move around, but if just a few were packing they could have followed the flash and sound and maybe stopped it. Yes, there could have been friendly fire casualties, but it would have been less than what occurred.

It would be great if there were no guns or weapons in the world and we sang Kumbaya, but the US is a gun culture (rightfully so) and the world is full of really bad people. If the idiot liberals were to make guns sales illegal tomorrow, there would still be millions of gun owners and millions upon millions of ammo, not to mention black-market imports. Ever hear them talk about that?

Solutions:
1. Give every one a CCW who passes the background check. How many of those who have such kill people? What? None?
2. Put a sign in every school, mall, public place that says, THIS IS NOT A GUN FREE ZONE.
3. Let all Muslim jihadists know that when deaded that they will be buried with pork entrails.

I worked in bars for 20 years. Every single place I worked had a gun behind the bar and another in the office.
Guess I worked for responsible bar owners.

My father in law got that look occasionally at the onset of his dementia. At first we attributed it to not hearing well but after awhile it became obvious what it was.

"Designated drivers; designated shooters. Works for me."

Me too, plus signs that say, "THIS IS NOT A GUN FREE ZONE! YOUR GENITALS WILL BE TARGETED FIRST! CARE TO LIVE WITH THAT?"

Even without an armed patron...all that glass, and presumably a fire extinguisher or two, maybe a fire hose, numerous chairs, and at least a hundred men. I don’t understand how he managed to shoot so many without interference.

loving wife loses beloved faithful husband...

lost without him...

Remember how they danced on the beach

Gun free Zone signs should be replaced with Free Fire Zone signs.

"I worked in bars for 20 years. Every single place I worked had a gun behind the bar and another in the office."

Of course...that's why I always made friends with the bartender - ha!. Also, bet you never worked in a bar/nightclub where you couldn't see across the room, unless it had a side room like strip clubs.

For Clinton to say you couldn't see across the Pulse room because of darkness is just wrong. You and I both know how many lights are on in a bar/nightclub. They may be subdued, but you can still see once the eyes adjust.

I was surprised to hear Billy-boy say such, since he was such a party animal and womanizer. May be he didn't ever need to visit a bar, and just used his influence to seduce and rape women.

Bottom line: The ass is wrong as usual. I wish there were a few carrying in the Pulse. I firmly believe the body count would have been lower.

Apparently someone else in that club did have a gun. First reports in the news were that an off duty police officer was present, with one mention that he was club security. He returned fire and caused Mateen to retreat to that bathroom with hostages-that is- he took hostages rather than killing them. He would not have done that did he not face another gun. The officer probably prevented further fatalities as the hostages were not killed by Mateen and he had a restricted field of fire from that bathroom.

Read the same. However, the monster still shot some in the bathroom according to an eye-witness account on Fox News. If there were more people carrying, I believe they could have taken the muslim sh*t out before retreating to the bathroom.

Yeah. Once your eyes adjust you can see really well. The blinding part is when you walk in during daylight. Lol

"Apparently someone else in that club did have a gun..."

The key word here is "IN". I distinctly heard on the news that since the club is designated a "gun-free zone", the security guy was either outside or in a lobby of some sort by MANDATE when the gunman opened up. He was prohibited from being "IN" the club itself.

If he then ran inside the club door and started firing at the perp, it was heroic...but the point is that he may have had to start firing from an ineffective and non-advantageous location...and, of course, everyone else in the room was unarmed by mandate...and from there the story unfolded tragically.
