I have a theory. She has Supreme Court ambitions, so she is not playing an active role in covering up Hillary Clinton’s e-mail scandal.

She can probably count on some kind of position if Hillary is elected. Conceivably she could hold out for a judgeship -- even the Supreme Court -- but wouldn't just being a convinced Democrat be enough for Lynch to drag her feet on the investigation?

Maybe Hillary will promise her to leave her in place as Attorney General in return for no indictment. That saves one confirmation fight in the next term. Maybe she would hint at a future SC nomination (to replace Clarence Thomas maybe—but the report today was that Thomas hasn’t really decided to retire yet).
