President Obama has endorsed former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who held office as a Republican but switched parties after losing the 2010 Senate race, in a bid to pick off a GOP-held congressional seat.

"Gov. Charlie Crist has always put people above politics — and we need more of that in Washington," Obama said in a statement released by the Crist campaign. "I know he'll bring the people's voice to Congress, and I've got his back." The Democratic National Committee confirmed the endorsement to the Washington Examiner.

He should be so proud to now be part of the party he should have been in all along. You can only go so long before the people figure you out.

I guess Charlie is a Democrat this time. He’s been a Republican and an Independent. Whatever it takes. Charlie is always about the people. /sarc.

Why can’t these liberal rat losers ever go into the private sector?

Why must they ALWAYS have a job in government?

Even when a few of them do go back to private life (Al Gore) they still depend on government contracts (payoffs) to support their business (racket).

When he was a Republican he was for Obamacare and threw his support behind the $787 billion economic stimulus bill.

Good. That’ll put the nail in Suntan Charlie’s coffin.

God I hope you're right. He's running for the seat in my district. I'll do everything I can to help the opposing candidate.

Obama’s lying as usual: “Gov. Charlie Crist has always put people above politics — and we need more of that in Washington,” Obama said in a statement released by the Crist campaign. “I know he’ll bring the people’s voice to Congress, and I’ve got his back.”

Flip-Flop Charlie has always put his political ambitions above the people......He decided to run for Congress because this district became more Democrat after redistricting.

Looks like incumbent Jolly may jump back in this race since his poll numbers are far better that Charlie’s. It would be sweet to see 3 time loser Charlie beaten by Jolly!

Is there other terminology for “I got his back” ? I seem to recall it being used numerous times in “Training Day” and was used in the 90’s during the Lewinsky debacle.
