My country is a confederacy. How it works here is that Alberta pays the bills, gets blamed for everything and is told to shut up.

If the UK left the EU, then the fate of Alberta (and Norway) would be the UK's -- they'd have to pay and follow the EU rules if they want to trade AND yet they'd have no say in the making of the rules themselves.

right now they do have a say in those rules and a veto power -- if they leave then they have to keep the rules to trade with the EU and they lose any ability to have a say in those rules
