Donald Trump Rolls Out Winning Platform: Cut Taxes, Save Social Security and Medicare
Breitbart ^ | 19 Jun 2016 | Patrick Howley

Republican candidate Donald Trump focused this weekend on his economic platform: Cut taxes and regulations across the board while also saving Social Security, Medicare, and other government safety-net programs.

Trump’s platform is nearly invincible in the general election if he stresses it enough, polling shows. Trump’s plan will also have a transformational effect on how people view his party. But he still needs to make the accounting work to ensure that his Third Way platform is feasible.

I’m sorry your boy Jeb was rejected by 87% of Republicans.

Jeb was rejected because his elite country club ideas sucked. You need to get over your hatred of Trump - it’s coming across as bitter... and creepy.

Privatize or abolish. "Saving" them is just attempting to polish a turd.

Good luck trying to privatize the whole kit and caboodle. I always thought that one of Bush's better ideas was the option to privatize a portion of your SS and be able to invest in a tax-deferred retirement account. I would like to see that back on the table, I'm sure Trump could sell it.

What a great idea. I wonder why no other politician ever came up with this.

I had to take SS early myself.

I've been battling Leukemia for the past ten years and I figured I would try to get some of the $250,000 I've invested in the Program back before I fall over.

My Best Childhood Friend Passed Away at age 61 and his Family got $255 to help Bury him. He worked since he was 16 and he probably put more into the Program than I did.

Somebody has to feed the Ponzi scheme and he sure did.

Objection 2: Trump is terrible at business, as proven by his several bankruptcies.

Persuasion: Ask how many bankruptcies Trump has had. Most people say between 5-10. Then ask how many entities Trump has his name on. The answer is about 500. Then ask if that is a good performance for an entrepreneur who is often trying things in new fields.

(Asking questions in that fashion is good persuasion technique. It removes the adversarial frame and gives the person a sense of coming to a new conclusion without pressure.)

Then explain how licensing works. Trump puts his name on various products and he gets paid even if the product or company does poorly in the end. That’s an example of Trump taking the LEAST risk in a deal. The other parties take larger risks and frequently fail. Trump gets paid either way. All parties to the deals have lawyers who review everything. Trump isn’t taking advantage of people with his licensing deals. Licensees are knowingly accepting the riskier side of the deal because they also have the biggest potential upside.

Trump doesn’t like risk. We see it in lots of ways. For example, Trump has never been in a physical fight. He asked his wives to sign prenups. He creates separate entities so some can go bankrupt without bringing down the rest. He licenses his name so he gets paid even if the company buying the license does not make a profit. And he diversifies his portfolio to reduce exposure to any one risk.

Based on everything we see, Trump consistently tries hard to avoid risk in everything he does. And people don’t change character at age 70.

The exceptions to Trump’s risk-avoidance include some of the provocative stuff he is saying during the campaign. That behavior looks risky to most observers, but it was exactly what got him the Republican nomination. Evidently, Trump takes risks when doing so makes sense.

If he can rid the nation of the Obamacare nightmare, he will save the country. Really, this massive veiled welfare increase should be issue #1. Get rid of it, and Trump will surely be reelected.

Someone should get it through Trump’s head that SocSec is HOPELESSLY unsalvageable without a dramatic turnaround in the (white Christian) birthrate. When 2 kids is the average family size, which is already under the replacement rate*, even without the Baby Boomers flooding the retirement system we’re already heading for unsustainability.

*Much as I hate to say this between illnesses, accidents, violence and just growing up to be a useless crook you need 3 kids per family to actually reach a stable population.

His approach on social security is basically taking the safe way out. He knows suggesting reform is political suicide.

As for taxes, is it wise to take even more “takers” off the tax rolls, and increase the base of the Democratic party?

I guess he figures he isn’t going to be the bad guy to reform these programs and will leave it to another generation. Not very courageous.

Even Reagan gave up on changing SS. As long as we’re a democracy such entitlements are not going away bar an extremely conservative supreme court.

SS was essentially and is essentially a pyramid scheme. I am sure some of its creators even realized that. I guess figures he won’t be the one leaning on his sword.

>Trump clearly isn’t serious if he is talking about saving socialist programs like SSI and Medicare. Those are anchors on this economy

Less so than welfare and the ‘income tax’; slavery by another name. Remove the latter and the rest will naturally diminish.

It’s hard to demagog when EVERYONE pays the same.

Kick out the illegal Fed and govt REALLY whittles down...and fast.

Even better, make each State pay their 1/50%...that’ll get everyone’s eyes on D.C.

Trump “not very courageous”? ..you’re kidding, right? That’s easy to say from here where you remain relatively anonymous. Let’s see you accomplish what he has.

Simple enough, but no longer taught/thought: You tell ‘em ‘F*-off’ and run ‘em out of town.

Our father’s America would have taken the time to research the issues and would have voted for a person who at least was not hell-bent on the USA’s complete destruction. I despise Romney, and his puerile attacks against the winner this time showed his true colors, but still.... We have a selfie, Facebook American generation rising up today — a culture which even affects more mature people.

That and with nowhere near enough young people to care for their elders or pay for their care personally, dismantling SS because of its financial state is about like grabbing a high-voltage wire because it’s in the way - you may be right but you’re gonna pay for it.

I hate to say it but Donald is taking an extremely practical stance on the issue. I’m sure he’s run the numbers or had someone do it for him, but if he has any brains he must know how much the retired and near-retired would FREAK.
