On Wednesday, the leftist Bolivian government turned away a donation of 100,000 chickens from American businessman-turned-philanthropist Bill Gates, calling it “offensive.”
“He does not know Bolivia’s reality to think we are living 500 years ago, in the middle of the jungle not knowing how to produce,” César Cocarico, the country’s minister of land and rural development told journalists in La Paz, according to the London Financial Times. “Respectfully, he should stop talking about Bolivia, and once he knows more, apologize to us.”
Gates rolled out his chicken plan on his blog, gatesnotes, where he declared that if he were poor, he would raise chickens, so he will begin giving poor people chickens to raise.

I think Bolivia is full communist, or at least the president is.... maybe some capitalism might work better.
How else is Bill going to get Bird Flu started if they won’t accept the chickens .... or maybe a vaccination ... and besides the minister can put chickens into his private graft account!!!!
One can only hope that the country of Bolivia is ready to send advice to Seattle, after Mt. Rainer pops its top.
Bill Gates needs to make a public statement that the Bolivians can ESAD. That was very thoughtful of him.
No, Bolivia isn’t full communist. Its a constitutional republic that elected a leftist who you wouldn’t like much. But he is one of the types we would have launched a CIA dirty war on a few decades ago, like Operation Condor.
Ironically, the kind of operations that created guys like Morales.
But if looking for reasons he might dislike America, this is that guy about a year ago that we forced down his presidential plane over Austria and stormed his plane because we thought Snowden might be on it. He could go Hugo Chavez easily, but so far he hasn’t. but I’m sure we are busily working on it.
Bolivia accepted help from Heifer International, a charity that donates breeding pairs of all kinds of farm animals to poor farmers. Gates must have angered that commie somehow.
Stupid Bill Gates. Doesn’t he realize that when 100,000 chickens are donated, there is little opportunity for graft on the part of the Bolivians? After all, you cannot just transfer 1,000 chickens to a Swiss bank account.
Now, if Bill had sent $100,000 in cash...that would have worked out just fine.
The Bolivian leader must be chicken himself and views this as a run on his office.
Why not send the chickens to Venezuela?

Actually Morales and Hugo were close allies from day one.
I am no fan of Gates but I don’t see how anyone could object to free chickens.
If Gates really wanted to do something about poverty, he could build a plant in Bolivia. That would actually do something, including teach Gates to better understand just why countries like Bolivia stay poor.

Because they would all be killed upon arrival. At 6 decent pieces per chicken, about a third of Caracas could have a single piece of chicken.
On the bright side, one out of twenty in that city could win a wishbone challenge and then wish they lived somewhere else..... with food.

As part of that South American leftist movement yes, but Morales hasn’t done anything as sinister and murderous as Venezuela.
