Trump affirms backing gun ban for those on terror watch list

Donald Trump reaffirmed his stance on restricting individuals on the terror watch list from being able to purchase firearms, despite Republican objections.

"We have to make sure that people that are terrorists or have even an inclination toward terrorism cannot buy weapons, guns," Trump told ABC's White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl in an interview that will air Sunday on "This Week."

Trump is a self starter. He will go after KNOWN Islamic threats to the US on his own.

After eight years of Obama [if, God willing, Obama finishes his term and Trump wins the election], Trump will have his hands full rooting out all the Muslim threats. At least Huma won’t be in the WH.

No. Mateen was never on any list. He was investigated twice by the FBI who decided to do nothing.

Clearly we need to expand the "no gun list" to anyone who was ever investigated by the FBI, whether or not any charges were ever filed. They are all dangerous and must be kept away from guns or pointy objects.

Hmmm, isn't one of the Presidential candidates currently being investigated by the FBI?

Well then I hope you're writhing in agony. It's amusing to me how some here jump straight to the Alinsky tactics that they condemn the demonrats for. And all you need do is ignore my posts if they so offend your delicate sensitivities, or do you feel that if someone supports Trump, but commits the traitorous act of questioning something he says they should be ridiculed and silenced. Actually that was a rhetorical question.

It's sad that supporting Trump isn't enough for some people here, we must support him blindly and unquestionably. Well I'm looking for a President and not another dicktator, I think Trump is that guy, but that doesn't mean I won't question things he says and does if I don't agree. Golly gee whiz Mr. Fantasywriter, I hope that wasn't too immature for you, not that I really give rats posterior.

"We have to make sure that people that are terrorists or have even an inclination toward terrorism cannot buy weapons, guns," Trump [said]

Trump is wrong on this issue on so many levels.

First, it cannot be emphasized often enough that gun control laws do not prevent any terrorists or criminals from buying guns. Gun control laws only prevent people who give a damn about complying with the law from buying guns. It is no different from claiming that passing a new federal murder crime will prevent criminals and terrorists from committing murder.

Gun control laws give criminals and terrorists the peace of mind that their victims will not shoot back. All "gun free zones" really are are "defense free zones." Putting up a "no guns allowed" sign is no different from putting up an "unarmed victims here, shoot away" sign.

The Democrats have gone from wanting to ban anyone on the no fly list from buying guns to wanting to ban anyone who they think should have been on the no fly list from buying guns. Either way, you are talking about a completely subjective list of people that someone in the government decided to include on a list. We don't know why anyone is on the list, since it is a secret. All we know for certain is that if you ban anyone on the secret list from buying guns, the secret list will suddenly include a hell of a lot more names.

Step one, ban anyone on the no fly list from buying guns. Step two, put everyone on the no fly list.

Who gets to define what a terrorist is?

If Democrats are defining the term, then it will include anyone who owns a gun or wants to buy one (unless they are hired to guard Democrats, in which case it is ok).

There is no due process with the “terror” watch list, when they put aliases of terrorists and every permutation of a suspected terrorist on the list, and the innocent people with those names can’t figure out how to get off.

Even if there were a statutory appeal process to get off of the list, it would be like appealing a federal agency determination that your stock tank is a protected wetland. Years and hundreds of thousands of dollars later, your grandkids may be able to buy a gun.

A person should be able to support or to not support Trump without resorting to childish language/imagery.

“I’m hoping he’ll be prompted to re-evaluate his position... “

I’m sorry John, if Trump doesn’t already know that it is unconstitutional to infringe the right of US citizens to purchase a firearm without due process, then no “prompting” will fix his mistaken position. IMO, Any candidate for president that proposes or supports any unconstitutional idea automatically disqualifies them from occupying the Oval Office.
