A faculty committee has proposed adding a three credit hours requirement in diversity to the general education curriculum at Wayne State University. It also recommended that WSU drop its university-wide requirement in mathematics, an idea that was carried out on June 13.

“We are proposing the creation of specific ‘Diversity’ courses, with students required to take one course in this designation,” said a document from the General Education Reform Committee, which is recalibrating what the university will expect from all students who earn a degree from the state university. It released the proposal in May.

It’s just like being in a jewelry store. You get to be around lots of rings. Lots of ideals too, although not “progressive” ideals as far as I know.

Wayne State needs to get Burnme Sanders’ wife to run the place and end their misery.

It takes a certain kind of mind to be able to deal with this. To me it’s just baffalo. More power to the egg heads who can embrace this stuff with aplomb. Calculus I could do, but it was not easy.

Yeah, how is that “diversity” working out for Detroit anyhow?

The liberals want to turn every American city into Detroit, eventually.

Now when a prospect who attended Wayne State is interviewed they will have to be asked whether they took (and passed) any college level math class. Used to be assumed that a college graduate knew college level math.

“because of their PC/Diversity emphasis”

I’ve noticed the PC/Diversity virus is even infecting medical schools! It’s going to destroy us if we don’t stop it!!!

Heh, to the last image.
I usually felt the same way in math class, but unfortunately I knew I’d never have the necessary attributes for that career path either.

No women in my major (math) at all. None in the whole college, either, but that’s changed since.

It’s easier than you think. Not a lot of writing like the English or Classics guys. No lab work like the physics, chem, or biology majors. Just go back to your dorm, work the last two problems in the textbook chapter, then go out and party.

Business degrees also require stats, which usually separates the wheat from the chaff if accounting hasn’t already done so.

“unemployable graduates that will go directly to a successful life on welfare”

Or more likely, academia and government.
