In 1964, Republican Barry Goldwater suffered a devastating landslide loss to LBJ. Aside from his home state of Arizona, Goldwater carried only five other states, all in the Deep South. Goldwater amassed only 52 electoral votes, to Johnson’s 486.
But even that paltry performance will look “extremely successful” compared to the thrashing that is in store for Donald Trump in November–if you believe Joe Scarborough. On today’s Morning Joe, after reviewing Trump’s disapproval numbers with various demographics, Scarborough said “Barry Goldwater is going to look like an extremely successful candidate.” Interestingly, Nick Confessore of the New York Times disagreed, arguing that the American electorate is so polarized that LBJ-like landslides are impossible today, and that the candidate of either party has a guaranteed base of 48%.

There’s a flip side to that. The GOPe won’t go along with the millions of voters that nominated Trump. We shouldn’t ignore that fact, there are a lot of “never Trumps” out there. We even have them here but they are smart enough not to be too obvious about it.
I voted for Trump in the primary and will certainly vote for him in the general.
Definitely a Catch 22. I’ d be satisfied with just checking the continuance of the GOPee. If they dòn’t want to go sit in the back of the bus, I’m good with throwing them under. Peeps like Grover Norquist, the Turtle and Wisc.’s Wacky Whyno nedd to be retired.
Yep, the GOPee brought Trump upon themselves. They refuse to recognize that fact and now bleat endlessly about how Trump is the end of Conservatives incl. their own sorry lieing butts. Hah. A pox upon them.

Anecdotal evidence of a Trump landslide...I play Euchre on a phone app I have. There is a limited “chat” feature while you’re waiting for a game. It’s probably 3 to 1 Trump support on this app. The “1” aren’t usually people who support Hillary...I haven’t seen hardly any active supporters... but just people who are against Trump.

I believe in a fair election Trump would win big... but with so many computer voting systems run by Google and other pro-Dem computer giants... have the votes already been tabulated? I will go vote Trump anyway, but I wonder???

I agree with everything you say. But at the end of May, everything was teed up PERFECTLY for Donald, the IG report, the jobs report, tied in the polls, etc. In my opinion he really blew it by not hammering on those things!! and instead went on the judge tirade. Not saying his complaints weren’t legit, just that he had so much teed up against the opposition, so in my mind he really blew that opportunity.
